You know, it's kinda funny. This year I guess I stuck to some resolutions I don't remember making-- like, oh, finally getting out of my stepdad's house--

[ funny how getting kicked out makes that easy to do. ]

--and quitting smoking-- [ thanks a ton Eponine. ]

--and getting real close with my dad. [ no. really, Eponine. thanks. ]

Huh. Yeah. Wonder what this year's gonna have in store. Can't wait. [ With an eyeroll and a familiar, irritating itch for a smoke. ]

So. How many of you are going to make optimistic promises you're not gonna keep, eh? I know I'm tapped out of 'em, but that's just me.

And I don't hold with resolutions. They simply make us all feel miserable when we fail at them.

Why not, I like gambling-- I'll try the mystery flavor one? Since I've had enough... strawberries to last a lifetime.

It does depend on a few factors. Namely, what can I reasonably expect them not to ruin for me in the end.

Well last year kinda took the cake for shitty years, so at least this year can't be much worse. Unless we all get killed. Which is probably not unlikely.

You have to make some more manageable ones to go with the big challenges, so you can stick with it. If you just have the giant mountain to climb you're going to feel like you're not accomplishing anything, even when you are.

Okay! Reasonable quest: have a real laugh once a day. Not that fake one you use.

I agree, your actual laugh is really nice. But you do that thing where your laugh is...off, when you're not actually happy. I don't know how to describe it, but you do it. Dionysus level acting or no.

My resolution is to make it to 2015 with most of my limbs attached, and at least one day wasted.
