SITUATION POST: JULY 21, 2013 (APHRODISIA)
[Today, a single rose has been placed at the feet of the statue of Aphrodite in accordance with the laws for celebrating Aphrodisia.
When you ate your breakfast this morning, you might have noticed it was delicious, even better than usual. Maybe the nymphs and harpies took extra care, or maybe there was a little Love Potion No. 9 in it.
Who knows?
OOC INFORMATION ABOUT THIS EVENT CAN BE FOUND HERE.]

Today is not that day, but the music is enough to get her to linger. She knows that song. She actually likes that song (it's good to train to, hush.)
Trying not to be too conspicuous, Margot slows down and meanders closer, hands shoved into the pockets of her jacket. This girl isn't too bad, she figures, humming along with the words.]

*But she does notice she's gained a slowly meandering audience. Not that that matters, she finishes the song first.*
You don't have to run off, you know. I don't mind an audience.

[She 'hmmphs,' edging closer before finally settling onto the sand with a graceful flop.]
Just didn't want to interrupt you, yeah?

*Maya is about as terrifying as a puppy with a kitten on its head.*
You're not interrupting.

[Margot snorts a laugh, running a hand over her face.]
So like, what other songs do you know how to play on that thing? A lot?
no subject
*Maya brushes her hair behind an ear, then works on tweaking the strings a bit. A guitar always needs a little bit of care.*
This and that. I don't have a proper cheatbook with me, but you can try me and I might know it. I need to work on that.

[With a wink, she props elbows up on her knees, chin resting on her hands. What kind of song..?]
Uh... You know any My Chemical Romance?
[Because that's what a beautiful day on the beach needs. Some MCR.]

*I'm not Okay (I Promise) was a song that suddenly had a lot more... meaning, than it used to have. She hadn't even thought about it, as Adam stopped bringing up MCR after Cam died.*
...Let's not do that song, how about name a few things and I'll pick something I can fake?
no subject
[Margot's not too socially awkward that she doesn't pick up on a mood shift like that, but it's not like she's going to question it. Not her business.]
Not one of my favourites, anyway. What about something like... [Any song of theirs that's LOUD. Kid likes noise, okay.]

*Maya's glad for the no prying, it isn't a topic Maya plans to embrace here.*
I'm Maya, by the way.

[She holds out a hand for the other girl to shake.]
Oh... Yeah, point. I kinda don't know the first thing about instruments. I'm sorta banned from touching them.
no subject
Well, first thing, if the girl only has an acoustic and her voice, pick based on lyrics. MCR has some great songs, but a lot of them work better with a drumkit and a bass. Anything I play will either be a dance number or a ballad to make it sound good like this.
Unless you can find me a drummer, then we can talk.

[She snorts a laugh.]
I think you'd have better luck finding someone than I would, especially over at your cabin. Guessing you're over at Apollo's, huh?
no subject
You'd be surprised, our counselor put me in charge of the nightly sing alongs because apparently nobody else stepped up for it. So maybe I'm the most musically gifted of the cabin?
*Maya you play every musical instruments without trying. There are like four you couldn't instantly play.*

[She narrows her eyes a moment and glares at the ocean as if its presence is some great affront before shaking it off. Bleh.]
Heh. Maybe? Pretty big responsibility with the sing alongs, though.
no subject
*...Weird...*
Eh, it's just a gig like any other. I don't see it as that big a deal, and it's definitely in my wheelhouse.
no subject
[Not going into it, nope.]
I dunno. I'd probably die if I had to do something like that. I mean, gimme something to fight and cool, but singing and whatever? Not my thing, so kudos to you.

I can handle an audience, and playing through embarrassing things. But I have had a lot of practice at music performances. I mean my first one I was... seven. I know the stage and music way better than fighting and monsters.

Strings are really more my thing. Not sure if it's a me thing, or a my dad is God of Archery thing.

But it is a string thing, and a Dad thing, so... I probably can rock it as well as anything else.
