Shot 03 -- IM/Action

[Hello camp! Bucky's out by the archery range, smiling. His rifle is behind him on a table]

So I started teaching Cosette to shoot the other day an' I got to thinking. Sure, archery's handy an' all but guns. Guns are a lot more likely t'kill whatever you're aimin' to kill. I'm an Apollo kid, I can shoot both, so why not see if I can teach other people to use guns. So, if anyone's interested, I'm gonna start offering shooting lessons outside of the archery ones.

Finally! The girl who was teaching me left months ago! I've been trying to figure it out on my own, but you know, point and shoot is not nearly as easy as it sounds.

You could shoot someone else or yourself, if you're not careful.

Well, I didn't, so I think I've been doing halfway decent.

Or you just got real lucky. Aren't you one of the forge kids?

Last I checked, luck was Tyche's thing. And yeah, I'm the counselor for us forge kids. Name's Leo.

[ You are a killjoy, aren't you. ]

[Hmmm. Well, it's not like Elphie has a lot of luck with the traditional Roman weapons. She's okay with a staff, but she's slight and doesn't appear to be getting much bigger, so maybe it's a good idea. Guns can even out a disparity in physical size in a big fuckin' hurry.]

I'd like to try.

Is tomorrow good for you or do you wanna do it some other time or what?

[well, in any case, at least this time he's doing something useful instead of breaking things without even asking to use them. There's still a stern look on her face, but Cosette is her good friend and a Commootee member.]

And how is Cosette's progress coming along?

Just started a few days ago. We're still workin' on the basics.

And is she picking things up well, or...?

[You didn't answer her question, Bucky.]

I dunno, I only started teaching her. Give her a little bit.

Naomi is offended you think she'd want to touch a gun Bucky.

You're what?

[It's hard to tell whether Enjolras is angry that Bucky is teaching and therefore trusting Cosette with a gun... Or that he didn't think of it in the first place.]

Teachin' Cosette to shoot. It's a good skill an' she needed the distraction.

I'm... Not sure handing a gun to someone who has just had a break up is the best idea.

Why? Not like she's gonna shoot the jackass.

[So in all honesty, teaching someone who just had a bad breakup to shoot is not the best idea in the world, but Cosette's got a pretty level head on her shoulders for a teenager, and honestly the stress relief of it is actually helping her out.

She's got her pistol, courtesy of the armory, and is looking for some more practice.]

Is it too early to ask for more lessons?

Can it wait 'til I eat somethin'?

[He laughs]

That eager, huh?

Oh, sorry, of course.

[She's tapping her foot, still ansty but eager.]

It's good stress relief. And I think I'm getting better. Am I?

You only just started learnin'. Give it a few days.

[Bucky grabs the muffins he took from breakfast and starts eating the apple cinnamon one]

D'you like banana walnut?

[BUT CAN YOU RESIST the puppy eyes, Bucky. Which he's getting, slightly reproachfully.] Still don't see why you won't teach me.

Because you can't aim all that well, Steve. If you could aim I'd have no problem teachin' you to shoot. Maybe we can talk to Chiron, get you some glasses or somethin' soon.

[There's a disconsolate sigh.] Fine, I guess I'll watch or somethin'.

Sorry, buddy. It's a safety thing--I'd never forgive myself if you got hurt doin' something that's as easy as breathing to me.
