Shot 03 -- IM/Action

[Hello camp! Bucky's out by the archery range, smiling. His rifle is behind him on a table]

So I started teaching Cosette to shoot the other day an' I got to thinking. Sure, archery's handy an' all but guns. Guns are a lot more likely t'kill whatever you're aimin' to kill. I'm an Apollo kid, I can shoot both, so why not see if I can teach other people to use guns. So, if anyone's interested, I'm gonna start offering shooting lessons outside of the archery ones.

[No Steve, he won't teach you. Same for you, Naomi.]

To start shooting? You only just started. It'd be stupid to let you shoot without someone there to watch.

Well why can't you watch me? Are you too busy?

Cosette, I just asked to lemme finish eating.

Right, right, of course.

[She's still tapping her foot, antsy as ever.]

...But I am getting better, right?

[Gods she's worse than Steve]

For only having shot a few days? Yeah.

[impetueux]

Okay, good.

[Jesus, how long does it take to eat a muffin?]

...Enough that I should stick with the pistol, or try another type?

[She's an eager learner, that counts for something, right?]

Pistol for now. We can switch it up later, if you want.

[Eating is highly overrated. She has needs.]

Do I get to learn any cool tricks, like the type you can do?

[So does he!]

When you've been shooting longer, sure.

[impetueux]

How long is longer?

[He's never going to finish that muffin.]

Few months at least. You gonna let me eat my muffin or are you gonna talk me to death?

[She looks petulant.]

...Eat your muffin.

[She sits in front of him, impatiently waiting.]

You're lucky you're cute an' my sister.

[impetueux]

[She sighs.]

I'm sorry, I'm just...trying to keep my mind off things.

[wintersergeant]

[He smiles]

I know, I know. But you gotta let me eat, Cosette, or I'm gonna die.

[Om nom nom muffin]

An' try not to get too eager with your gun, yeah?

[impetueux]

[Another somewhat petulant sigh.]

I know...I promise I'm being responsible with it. I just really want to get better. How long did it take you?

[wintersergeant]

No clue. I remember shooting a lot at the Hotel but I dunno if I was a good shot before then or if that counted as seventy years of training or what.

[impetueux]

[She props her chin on her hands.]

You don't talk about the Hotel all that much. What can you remember, if you don't mind me asking?

[wintersergeant]

Not much.

[He doesn't like talking about it because it fucked with his head. He hates that]

I know I didn't realize the date until I got out. Everything I did made sense in there, even if I was messin' with somethin' from the 80s.

[impetueux]

It just made sense to you...?

[She's just accepted at this point that there are things in this universe beyond her explanation.]

That's sounds really rough. What did you even think you were doing there?

[wintersergeant]

Yeah. All I knew was that Athena and our dad told us to go because they'd be able to help Steve there. I dunno if sending us seventy years into the future is what they meant, but hey.

[impetueux]

[The whole thing sounds odd, but she's even less capable of explaining her Father's sometimes random actions.]

I'm sure...Well, I hope they had their reasons. Do you miss the people you knew?

[wintersergeant]

Not really. Didn't have a whole lot of people beside Steve to miss.

[impetueux]

Oh...

[She finds that even sadder.]

Well, I'm glad you're here now.

[wintersergeant]

Same.

[He shoots her a smile]
