Petal 09 -- IM/Action

[Jehan is out in his garden today, weeding and planting and basically being a son of Demeter. Not his poisons today, thankfully, but his flowers. Daisies, roses, tulips--all the flowers.]

I'll be making flower crowns for May Day next week, if people are interested! I know it's not really a holiday but after this odd winter, I feel it would be appropriate to celebrate the spring in some way.

[He smiles and goes to cut the rainbow before making a soft "oh" sound and turning back to it, blushing]

Oh, and...Nico, I. I was wondering if you would like to go with me on a trip of sorts. To Venice! Marianne has gone to visit her girlfriend and she said that if I wanted to stop by now that I can she would treat me and a friend to dinner. So...yes. Do you want to go to Venice?

[Honestly, he's waiting for that to happen right now. He parks it next to Jehan's flowerbed unceremoniously, cross legged.]

[He sighs and throws a clump of dirt at Gabriel]

Fine, yes. I am a little worried about liking him so much. I'm not sure I'm over Zane yet.

[angeliaforos]

Christ, Jehan!

[His face manages to dodge it, but it hits him square in the shoulder. He shrugs off his jacket to his camp t-shirt and presses on.]

But you still have a thing for Nico.

[shylyintrepid]

Yes? I don't see what you're getting at, Gabriel.

[angeliaforos]

I didn't think I would have to spell it out for a poet, y'know.

[a little sigh, but it's affectionate.]

You're one of the most badass kids I know, dude. Hell, you just threw dirt at me. You are the only thing holding yourself back, JP.

And I think if you legit ask him out it'll be worth your while.

[Especially now that Gabriel knows what he knows about Nico.]

[Jehan sighs. What is it with this camp?!]

I don't want to scare him away, Gabriel. He's not exactly comfortable with his sexuality, you know.

[Plus what if it ends like Zane?]

I know he does, thanks.

[He lies back in the dirt - he'll get the orange shirt washed later - playing with the beads of his camp necklace.]

I'm no kid of Aphrodite - what do I know? But what I know is - I gotta hunch, JP. I have a feeling he'll...be pretty happy if you actually went the whole nine yards.

But what if he isn't? What if he panics and I lose a friend again?

...Prouvaire, do you trust me?

[shylyintrepid]

Most of the time.

[angeliaforos]

[A beat.]

[shylyintrepid]

[angeliaforos]

Because...because I just have a feeling, alright? A really strong one. And I'm not trying to steer you wrong here.

[shylyintrepid]

[He sighs]

I don't want to hurt him. Or myself.

[angeliaforos]

I know, JP.

[He shakes his head a little, patting the ground next to him.]

You're both demigods, man. Strong ones. You'll figure out a way to make it work.

[shylyintrepid]

[Jehan flops down next to Gabe and promptly puts his head in the other boy's lap]

Neither of us are very good emotionally, though. And you're the only one I'm admitting that too, by the way.

[angeliaforos]

[Gabriel has to snort at the action, but runs a few fingers through Jehan's bangs.]

Yeah, I'm aware. Join the club, Jehan.

[He's not admitting to anything outright, but he's feeling pretty fucked up emotionally lately, too.]

It sucks.

[angeliaforos]

[Putting on an upper-crust, robotic British accent:]

We seem to be made to suffer. It's our lot in life.

[This is a Star Wars reference, Jehan.]

[He squints up at Gabe]

Star Wars. I'm telling you - once you get past the whole 'space western' thing, you'd really like it. Got all the great markings of a great Greek hero story. Misunderstandings, crazy battles with insurmountable odds, siblings separated at birth, the most kickass princess you'll ever see. I mean - I pretty much just quoted the robot Greek chorus.

Ambiguously gay best friends? All good Greek hero stories have possibly gay best friends.

[angeliaforos]

Mm, I think you could interpret it that way, if you wanted it to.

[shylyintrepid]

Look, as long as there's no "Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus are cousins" type thing, where literally everyone knows they're a couple but the creator is trying to hide it, I am okay with open interpretations.

[angeliaforos]

[That gives him a pregnant pause. Sure, Gabriel knows some - okay, more Backstreet Boys songs than he would like to admit - but even his reference pools are only so wide and mostly American-made.]
