[Today, a single rose has been placed at the feet of the statue of Aphrodite in accordance with the laws for celebrating Aphrodisia.

When you ate your breakfast this morning, you might have noticed it was delicious, even better than usual. Maybe the nymphs and harpies took extra care, or maybe there was a little Love Potion No. 9 in it.

Hey, it's my pleasure. We're all new kids here, right?

[He pauses for a moment, considering his words.]

Speaking of which...um, I never got whose kid you were, exactly?

[This was going to be awkward.] My family's a legacy of Mars. Way, way back.

[There's a 'but' here. A big but.] But, It's... really not the same with me. How familiar are you with Norse gods?

Oh, really? Did they go to Camp Jupiter? Maybe I know some of them.

[He's pretty friendly with people outside the Fourth Cohort, anyway.]

I...don't really know anything about them, actually.

My dad did. I don't remember him mentioning it a lot though.

[A pause. How is she going to explain this.]

Well, there's a thing in Norse mythology called Ragnarok. Big battle of the gods. Battle to the death, all that stuff. All the gods died and are reborn. I'm... I'm one of them.

[Okay, so Scott knows the Roman gods back and forth - Ceres, Fides, Jupiter, the whole lot. It's kind of drilled into you, being from Camp Jupiter originally.

But Norse mythology? The Greek switchover still gets him confused sometimes, and he only knows a little about Egypt from what he's seen Sadie d. He knows nothing about Norse mythology.]

Okay, that's not what I was expecting, but I guess that's pretty cool either way. Um, what are you the goddess of, exactly?
