First Tale: Arrival // IM
{A sixteen-year-old with large amber eyes, an upturned nose, and brown hair flickers into view, too close to the rainbow at first and then he pulls back, centers himself in the image.}
So, let’s applaud for the Rainbow Connection, everyone. Is that inappropriate to hum or sing? Anyway, I’m Stiles Stilinski. Not really sure what I’m doing around here yet, but I saw some other kid do this, so I figured what the heck, put my face out there a little early.
{His hands come in and out of focus as they wave about around the rainbow.}
So, things I ought to tell everyone....I’m human. Extremely human, and fragile, so all those swords should just stay sheathed around me, alright? Beyond that, I’d appreciate it if someone could give me a hand to where ever new arrivals are supposed to be.
{The colors start to bleed and fade away.}
Than-
{He cuts out.}

Sorry I'm not sorry.
Scott! What am I doing here? What are you doing here? Wait--holy shit. Did your mom get it on with a god?!
sorry for the late tag!!
Actually - no. Not my mom. Victoria's my grandma, actually. Um, the demigod's...my dad was a demigod. Son of Victoria.
Lol it's only been a little while I wouldn't count it late.
{It goes unspoken that Melissa McCall has always been a billion times too good for Scott's dad. He jolts half forward like he wants to pull Scott into a hug, but he stops mid motion turning it into a usual expressive arm swing. He doesn't want to hit himself on Scott's sword or ruin his bro's camp credit if hugs aren't a thing they're supposed to do.}
no subject
[But he does agree - there are few people on the planet that are good enough for his mom, least of all his dad, and it's something Scott isn't afraid to express. Scott McCall is nothing if not honest.
Which is why he goes in for the arm swing at first, and then bear-hugs Stiles, right around the middle.]
It's so good to see you again, man. I missed you!
no subject
I missed you, too. A lot, man.
no subject
Stiles - how are things back in Beacon Hills? I haven't been home in forever. Have you seen my mom?
[He writes letters when he can, but it's not the same. He hasn't sent an IM to her because he's not sure how she'd react to the rainbow.]
no subject
Well, apart from the English teacher trying to kill me everything's pretty normal. {He knows you haven't been home in forever, dude. You don't have to tell him that.}
Your mom's doing good! She works a lot, but I take her lunch sometimes on the weekend shifts, and she eats dinner with me sometimes when Dad's got a lot of late shifts in a row.
no subject
[The 'when I can't' is left unsaid, but it's there. Scott worries more and more every day about protecting the people he cares about, and his mom's no exception. Along with Allison and Heather, she's one of the most important people in his life - perhaps the most important. To say he's upset he can't be there for her is an understatement. Still, his eyes are sincere, and he places a hand on Stiles' shoulder in thanks, before jumping back to the other point.]
Wait, wait- what? Dude - explain.
no subject
{But, now neither one of them was there in Beacon Hills anymore.
He grins at Scott's incredulous question.}
Well, I started hearing things, gossip at school that I should have been able to, my dad talking about crimes scenes, that sort of thing. Then I started seeing Hera and getting cryptic messages, dreams the whole shebang.
{It was so bad he almost made an appointment with Mrs. McCall to get an MRI without telling his dad.}
English teacher was a monster. I'm not sure which. Her and Harris both, actually. Heard them telling stories in the teacher's lounge how they were waiting for me to manifest, getting tired of it and planning to go for my dad or whatever, so I split.
no subject
[He affirms it even though he knows in his heart that Stiles and his dad are family, and he would go to the ends of the earth for either of them. Sometimes, it's just good to say it. He listens to Stiles' story, eyebrows raised. He shouldn't be surprised that Harris was a monster, especially with how harsh the guy could be sometimes, but he is surprised, nonetheless.]
Stiles, your-
[He stops for a second, because he remembers sneaking around as kids, sometimes not saying anything, but this is a bigger deal and the sheriff could be in danger.]
Does your dad know where you went?
no subject
I-erm--I left him a note. He knows I've been having problems at school. I just...I told him I was taking a road trip, that I'd check in and that I'd be safe. He doesn't have to worry.
{It's bad, he knows. Really horrible, actually, but he had to get out of there before they went after his dad.}
no subject
At some point, we should...we should go back, just to check in with them. In person. I mean, we can do that now! [The implication that they couldn't is there - and he'll get to that, if Stiles asks. Plus, there's something he needs to tell Stiles...but he's easing into it.]
I really miss Mom.
no subject
Dude, I just got here. I'm not so keen to run away from monsters again this soon.
{He shakes his head.}
But yeah, I'll have to go so see my dad sometime.
no subject
[There's a pause, and a nod - because Scott kind of feels like they both have things to tell eachother about who they've found out they are, but first-]
Well - I'll go back with you, then. Road trip, man. And if monsters come after us - well, I'm pretty good with a sword.
[After the bit of honesty comes out, it's time for another.]
Um, Stiles? Why did you come to camp?
no subject
Dude, do you know real satyrs that want to road trip with us?
{He looks warily at Scott's armor and sword, not because he doubts Scott's abilities, but because Scott has a sword and not just like a plastic light saber or the metaphorical sword in his pants.}
Hera led me here.
{He scratches the back of his head, kind of reluctant to elaborate, but also not sure what direction Scott wants him to take his elaboration in.}
no subject
[Oh, Stiles. Let him show you his actual plastic lightsaber that he'd gotten from Heather. He's planning on getting you one, too.]
...y'know, I think Hera led Allison here, too. She's Norse. My girlfriend.
no subject
We'll see.
{He'd research it maybe, and actually talk to them, which it sounds like Scott might not have done at all.}
Yeah, I met her. Think she might be too good for you, bro.
{He's joking, because no one is too good for Scott, if anything it's the other way around, but he can tease Scott about getting a hot girlfriend when he wasn't around to watch it happen.}
no subject
She's so- hey!
[He knows Stiles is teasing, but he nudges him in the arm, laughing a little bit. Gods, he missed this. He's about to gush about how wonderful she is, but there's another pressing matter, first - the reason he brought up Allison in the first place.]
Hey, maybe you're Norse? I mean, I don't think you're a magician, and if Juno came to you, and you didn't have a satyr guide you and Lupa hasn't come for you yet...I mean, it would make sense.
no subject
{He nods a little.}
no subject
[His smile's sincere, though he has to pause for the bit of seriousness that's to come.]
Uh- okay, I need to tell you something, man. But we need to go somewhere more private.
no subject
Gods and monsters have happened, and you want somewhere more private to talk about this? I'm kind of scared to be told.
{He's joking, and already grabbing his bag to follow Scott, but he's worried about what his best friend has to say.}
no subject
[Please don't freak out, Stiles. Please don't - the last thing he needs is for his best friend to be afraid of him, as he seems to be worried about the monsters that are outside the camp's borders.
He takes Stiles down to the Nike cabin, opening the door for him. His Ned's against a row of lockers and he sits down at the foot of it.]
Okay, so...at the end of January, a lot of werewolves got into camp - and some werewolf hunters too, that Allison knew. We tried to fight back against the wolves, and for the most part, we got them. I think we even captured one and one of the hunters in the process. But...in everything, I got bitten by one. Their pack leader, I think it was. Dude...I'm a legacy and a werewolf.
no subject
If Stiles was writing this story he knew where he would take it, and sure enough...A legacy and a werewolf.
The words echo in his head a bit, and Stiles isn't sure if it's a side effect of hearing the story or just his own reluctance to believe Scott's words. Not because he's afraid of Scott or anything like that, but because it's one more thing Scott's lived through, is still living through that Stiles wasn't there for. It's another gap between them.
He can feel Scott waiting with baited breath though, so he smiles, pushing his own fears out of the way and claps Scott on the shoulder.}
Bro, you getting a little furry and howling at the moon is probably the least crazy thing I've heard the past few weeks, or at least it fits in with everything else.
no subject
[Scott's not quite getting worried about the gap. True, he'd wished Stiles was there, he'd wished he could have told his best friend sooner. But up until this morning, he'd barely known there was anything supernatural about Stiles to begin with. If anything...he'd want Stiles to be safe.
Well, at least here he'll learn how to protect himself. Though Scott'd be lying if he didn't say he'd defend Stiles to the Underworld and back. Frankly, there are few places he wouldn't go for Stiles - even a place like Tartarus isn't above it. Stiles is his brother from another mother. He'd do anything for him.
There's a little breath in, and he starts up.]
Have you figured out what weapon you're gonna learn yet? Wait a second. I could totally help you learn to swordfight!
