IM | MAY 4, 2014
[The IM opens up on Scott sitting outside the Nike cabin, rubbing at some of his armor with a cloth, and for a moment, he stares up into the sunlight reflected through the rainbow, a little at a loss for words. He's responded to a lot of others' IMs in the past - in fact, it's how he's met all the new people at this camp, usually. But he's never really been one to send them out on his own.
In truth, what he told Tris the other day is true. He does kind of miss the eagles.]
Um, hey guys. I don't usually make these on my own, so - uh, I'm Scott McCall, Fourth Cohort.
[He pauses for a second, kind of unsure what to say about this, how to say it. Now, he thinks, there's going to be a lot of things in his life he's unsure about what to do with. Particularly the part where he turns into a furry, monstrous thing once a month.]
I just wanted to let you all know that two of my cohort members - my friends - Zack Fair and Derek Hale - they're not at camp anymore. Cohort business, I think. I figured they were probably some of your friends, so I thought you might wanna know.
[He leaves it a little vague on both ends, shaking his head. Scott leaves the line open, but goes back to cleaning the armor.]

[He stops for a second, taking a deep breath.]
What if something happens? What if they can't protect themselves?

[Not like he got hurt in January. The last thing anyone needs is more werewolves.]

What I am saying right now does not go beyond us or I swear to Bast I will curse you and your offspring.
[He pinches the bridge of his nose. He's only saying this because he feels like he has to try and keep Scott from being an idiot for Derek's sake.]
I had five siblings, once. Three of them were killed before I was ten. One ran off. I was ten when the last of them was sent to Ireland's nome while I began my training in Heliopolis. I haven't spoken to my sister since then, and no one knows what happened to her. Then, in San Fransico, my boyfriend was shot and killed by his own family--accident or otherwise I don't know--while I could do nothing. Sometimes, Scott, you simply cannot keep the people you care for from getting hurt.

And this is some deep stuff. Scott thought he was going through a lot with Derek and Zack leaving, but...wow. He's sympathetic and it's written all over his face.]
That's...really heavy, Tybalt. I'm sorry you had to go through all that.
[The determination's still there, but now he's got a bigger idea as to who he might be considering for this 'pack' of his.]

[He didn't mention that Ainmire, his adopted father, was the one who killed his siblings]
Wanting to keep people safe is perfectly fine, but being aware that you can't always do that and it isn't your fault is how you stay alive.
[And sane. Tybalt's had to work at the guilt thing, but he's mostly got it under control]
