[ Four is out by the water today. He's got a goal in mind and that's clear from the determined look on his face (if the stern look on his face can be differentiated from his normal expression).]
Swimming isn't one of my strong points. [ He's actually making himself fairly vulnerable admitting that he's got a weak point. ] I'm gonna work on that if anyone wants to join me. [ Just before the IM closes out, he can be seen shedding his tee shirt and one might get a glimpse of his back

Re: IM
[ He smirks a little. ] I think I'm qualified to deal with that. [ A good hard glare generally shuts down the Roman girls flirting. He'll try that with the nymphs.]
IM
Unless you have no interest in girls at all, I'm not sure anyone is.

Re: IM
Okay. I'll bite. What will?

Re: IM
I could probably manage the second, but the help is necessary.

Re: IM
Thank you. I'll take your advice.
[IM]
[That glimpse. He got it.]
[IM]
[IM]
[Air quotes.]
[IM]
rather than the fire he has in canon] From there, wings over the shoulders. It sort of spread downward after that.[IM]
It's not working so well.]
They mean anything?
Re: [IM]
Of course. [ He hesitates a moment, feeling relatively vulnerable, but clears his throat and continues. ]
Freedom. Mostly. [ Another hesitation. ] Escape. [ From his old life, from his old scars, from Marcus. ] The ability to take control of my life.
[IM]
[That comment comes after he thinks about what he's been told for a few moments. It was pretty cool, too, but just calling it cool felt disrespectful now.
Normally he wouldn't give a shit, but...]
I'm Dave, by the way.
Re: [IM]
Is it? [ That hadn't been his intention really. He'd just been trying to hide the scars on his back, to feel like he'd put something there instead of wearing everything that Marcus had done to him on his skin.]
I'm Four. It's nice to meet you, Dave. So what about you? Do you have any tattoos?
[IM]
[Erm. Never mind. He waves it off.]
Nah-- I mean, I got one, kinda, but it's a Legion thing. [He pulls his sleeve up to show the brand on his arm. SPQR, the symbol of Janus, and one line beneath it.]
[IM]
Which cohort are you?
[IM]
Third. Yours?
Re: [IM]
First. [ Four answers with a nod.] Have you been here long?
[IM]
Re: [IM]
Not really. Just first cohort. [He worked hard to get to where he was, but he can't deny that some of the combat came natural as well. He's not going to belittle someone for their cohort in any case. Every cohort is necessary and needed. he knows that. Honestly, he's not sure what to say to Dave's comment so he moves on.]
I was there, but it's fortunate that you weren't. They must have brought you here almost immediately.
[IM]
Mm, yeah. [He nudges his shades up a bit.] I never got to see what happened to the place, just heard about it second hand.
[IM]
The accounts vary, at least from what I've heard.
[IM]
[Dave would talk to a wall. Clearly this is a good match.]
[IM]
[ Clearly ]
[ action ]
She makes her way down to the beach from her cabin, wearing a dress over her swimsuit, cardigan keeping her warm in the balmy spring air. The cardigan also serves to cover up the multitude of scars she has lacing her arms. Her legs, not so much.]
If you're going swimming, you're probably going to need a little help.
Re: [ action ]
[ Four might not have known Annie very well, but he's extremely glad to see a familiar face regardless and that shows in the actual (hold onto to your horses) smile on his face. He nods in agreement. ]
Probably a little.
[ action ]
Can't have a member of my cohort freezing to death.
[When she has some semblance of authority, Annie can manage a normal conversation. It's once that wears off that she's generally screwed.
Taking her shoes off, followed by her cardigan, she moves closer towards the breaking waves of the Long Island Sound.]
Re: [ action ]
[ He gave her a curious look. ] You can do something about the temperature of the water?
[ He'd assumed it would be cold, but he hadn't thought about how cold it would be. Following her lead, he takes his shoes off. He's already got his shirt off. There's no sense in getting it soaked. He's going to want something warm and dry to put on when he gets back on shore. ]
Re: [ action ]
And being able to breathe.
[She begins to walk into the water, without worry of the cold. Annie Cresta doesn't get wet unless she wants to.]
hurricane lydia
[And here comes Lydia, making her way to the shore. There's a basket slung over her arm.]
I've been looking everywhere for you, I actually managed to score us some sandwiches and juice because gods, I hate being stuck sitting at one table forever, so we can eat lunch together and - Annie, there's a tattooed boy here who looks like he's going to plunge headfirst into the Sound.
[She addresses Four.] Are you about to plunge headfirst into the Sound?
Re: hurricane lydia
[ Taken aback is an excellent way to describe Four's reaction to Lydia. He regards her with a fairly disapproving look. It's not quite a glare and it's not personal. She's just a lot of frivolous to throw at one person all at once. She'll grow on him. ]
That was the idea behind swimming.
no subject
He's trying to build his swimming strength up, and I figured I could help? [It came off as a question.] You can come with us, if you want. No one will get wet, OR cold.
no subject
Were you planning on doing that before or after Neptune's daughter was on hand?
[Lydia sets the basket down, considering while going over to Annie and putting an arm around her. It's not only companionable, but it provides a little eyeline distraction from Annie's scars.]
Sure, why not?
no subject
[ Undaunted is good. He appreciates and admires that. He shrugs at her question]
Either. Both.
[ Annie's scars don't bother Four. His back is a map of them. The tattoos just distraction from them. He quirks an eyebrow up, looking at Lydia.]
And you control the temperature.
no subject
She's, uhm, a daughter of Aphrodite- my boyfriend's sister.
no subject
Annie's a daughter of Neptune, but you probably knew that. And that's right. I'm better at making people hot, not so much the water.
[She looks to Annie.] He's kinda grumpy. [Like he's not standing right there. She looks back to Four.] You like the Camp so far?
no subject
[ Four nodded a little about the information Lydia gives him on Annie. Yeah, he'd known that, but now he knows that Lydia knows. There's a half smirk at the comment about making people hot and an entirely unamused look at the comment about him being grumpy. ]
This is me friendly and it's...a lot better than being on my own. { Far too frivolous, unregimented and laid back, but it wasn't alone and Four was grateful for that. ]
I'm Four. [ because introductions were things that friendly people did, right?]
no subject
[She shuffles slightly.] Four's in my cohort.
no subject
Good. I'm glad you're finding more of your own. [This to Annie. Lydia is clearly protective of her, and then she turns to regard Four.]
I realize our camp is less regimented than what you're used to, but don't discount us because of it. The Greeks and Romans have been working well together. You might even be impressed.
no subject
[ Four's irritation turns to amusement, watching them both with his arms crossed, a vague smirk on his face. ]
I'm looking forward to seeing it for myself. [ He doesn't doubt Lydia. He just doesn't believe much until he sees it with his own eyes. ] I'm glad Annie has found friends here. [ Which is as much approval as Lydia is likely to get for a little while out of him. ]
