Shot 02 - IM/Action - log 02

[wintersergeant]

[The IM starts off with your favorite charming 1940s transplant and his skinny asthmatic best friend looking kind of….sheepish. Well, Bucky looks sheepish and mildly annoyed. Steve is just giving him a Look. Bucky is the one who speaks]

So, uh, me an’ Steve...we don’t really know how to use all this twenty-first century technology and...we. Broke something.

[He holds up an iPod dock that is very much broken]

We thought it was a radio or somethin’. Guess not.

[Bucky goes to cut the rainbow but Steve stops him, giving him another Look.]

And we’re sorry we broke it, an’ that we stole it. [To Bucky:] Aren’t we?

...yeah, that too. [As he cuts the rainbow:] Really, Steve?

Brooklyn, wow! I've only ever been to, well... I've been all over the place now, I guess.

It's a pleasure to meet you, too.

[Steve's a sweetheart, she decides immediately.] In the Lotus Hotel, right? Nico mentioned it.

[ IM ]

Well, it's changed a lot, I guess. Didn't really go through it on the way here.

[He gives her a shy smile and a nod.] Yeah. My mother -- said it was important that we should go, so --[A shrug.] We did.

[ IM ]

I haven't been to Alaska since I last lived there. But I did manage to get down to New Orleans, on my way here. It was... so, so different. Terrifyingly different. I'm kinda glad there isn't much technology here.

Your mother? My mother said it was important to go to Alaska, but... [That was more Gaea than her mother.] Your godly mother?

[ IM ]

[thestarspangledman]

I ...Yeah. [He rubs the back of his neck and clears his throat a little.] Athena. My ma -- Sarah Rogers, um, she died when I was a kid. Pneumonia.

So I went to an orphanage. 'S where I met Bucky.

[ IM ]

Oh- oh! Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry, Steve. I didn't mean to drag up uncomfortable memories.

We don't have to talk about it. I'm sorry. [Hazel blushes furiously.]

[ IM ]

No, it's alright, it was a long time ago. [There's another smile, a little less awkward than the first one.]

See, I got -- real sick, before we went to Las Vegas, an' Bucky's father said it might make me better, so. [A shrug.] We went, an' we found the hotel, and then we ended up here.

[ IM ]

[cavalrys]

If you say so. I don't want to make you uncomfortable at all.

[She returns his smile softly.]

And are you alright now? The hotel helped? [She'd never heard of anything like that before, but what could you do?]

[ IM ]

It's okay, I promise. My ma was -- a good lady, she was a nurse. She just...got sick. [Another little shrug.] But like I said, I met Bucky, and he's family now, so it's alright.

It -- well, I didn't die, but I'm ...not exactly the strongest guy around. [Because that's not completely obvious, thanks, Steve.] But there's stuff now that helps, so I guess the hotel kinda did help.

[ IM ]

He is. And Nico is my family now, too. I'm learning that here, we make our own family. And not just godly families, either. [She had Nico, Derek, Leo. Percy, Gale and Jason. Her friends. Her family.]

I'm glad you're alive, Steve. Alive and healthy.

[ IM ]

[That might be a bit of a blush.]

Well, uh, thanks, miss Hazel.

[Meanwhile, next to you is a best friend elbowing you in the ribs, Steve]

She's cute.

[--And he's just going to go bright red.] What does that have to do with anything?

An' I think she likes you.

No she doesn't, I'm a walkin' stick.

That doesn't mean she don't like you, Steve. She seemed real sweet.

[A little shrug.] So you go after her, then.

Sweet, an' not my type'a girl, Steve. C'mon, you oughta know that. Sweet and cute is perfect for you.

Yeah, well, I only just met her! So quiet down, will ya?

[ IM ]

[And now she's blushing, too.]

It's nothing, Steve. Really.

And you can just call me Hazel.

[ IM ]

Well, alright. If you say so.

[ IM ]

I do.

[ IM ]

...Well, thanks.
