Shot 02 - IM/Action - log 02

[The IM starts off with your favorite charming 1940s transplant and his skinny asthmatic best friend looking kind of….sheepish. Well, Bucky looks sheepish and mildly annoyed. Steve is just giving him a Look. Bucky is the one who speaks]

So, uh, me an’ Steve...we don’t really know how to use all this twenty-first century technology and...we. Broke something.

[He holds up an iPod dock that is very much broken]

We thought it was a radio or somethin’. Guess not.

[Bucky goes to cut the rainbow but Steve stops him, giving him another Look.]

And we’re sorry we broke it, an’ that we stole it. [To Bucky:] Aren’t we?

...yeah, that too. [As he cuts the rainbow:] Really, Steve?

The iPod stores all the information and you can either use headphones or connect it to speakers in order to hear. It's a customized experience for the user instead of relying on the tastes of the, uh, radio jockeys. Hosts.

Were you too aggressive with the buttons or what?

Kinda.

[He really doesn't care too much about the details of the thing]

Most likely, maybe some iPhones, but no one's allowed to use a mobile around here.

There are also old school people who do have record players in camp. Maybe you can ask to you one.

Mobile what? Phone?

[Vaguely aware of those things. He makes a face at "old school", though. He's only heard it once or twice before but it makes him feel weird]

Old school...they ain't that old.

[allnerves]

[ Annabeth frowns, eyebrows lifted sympathetically. ] Thomas Edison invented the phonograph in 1877. It's pretty old by now. There's been a resurgence of popularity due to the rise of hipster "culture."

Yeah an' they hung around a lot longer than just about anythin' else, from what I hear.

[Hmph]

An unnecessary subculture-turned trend in America, currently used as the scapegoat in the news. It's probably best you don't try to understand it because I honestly don't either.

I wasn't criticizing the record player, though. It has a really nice audio quality, different from listening to high definition speakers.

Don't tell Steve that. He'll probably wanna know about 'em.

[No comment on the last bit. He'll accept it]

Anyway, I don't have to tell you not to poke around without asking. If you want to see some cool tech, just poke your head into the Athena cabin instead. We've got smartboards.
