[02 Cog] Iris Message/Action

[Sojourner's been toying with this idea since Lizzie asked her to teach her a recovery roll, and it only strengthened after the talent show.

So here she is, standing in front of the Nike cabin in a baggy hoodie and sweat pants. She gives a little wave, then shoves her hand back into the hands back into the kangaroo pouch. If anything it's to keep herself from nibbling at her fingers. No need to be so nervous, she reminds herself.]

Hey guys, so for all you new people, names Sojourner Ayers-Silva, one of the resident dorks of the Nike Cabin. I'm also that girl who did all the acrobatic moves at the talent show that may or may not have included doing a backflip off Mr. D.

Still waiting to find out if I'm in trouble for that one. But I digress!

That was something called parkour, people who have seen me running around camp might've noticed I do it... An awful lot. It's kinda a hobby of mine. Mix that with free-running and oh man can you get places quick! Anyways! [She does her best to clamp down on her rambling. No need to go off on a tangent]

I thought I'd offer to teach anyone interested in learning some moves. I know it's pretty useful for fighting and I've gotten out of a couple tight binds with monsters back home by using it. I'm... I'm not really that good at teaching. I learned 95% of this on my own through trial and error and the other 5% through this guy back home who took pity on me in the park one day. But I figured I'd offer and give it a shot. I mean, it'd be fun to go free-running and stuff in a group after all!

[She smiles, bouncing on the balls of her feet.]

Right! So if your interested feel free to stop by the Nike cabin or shoot me an Iris Message, I'll be making a list, checking it twice, and all that jazz. Then I'll get in touch with everyone and we'll set up a good time for everyone!

[She gives a grin, then a small salute before waving her hand through the rainbow.]

[Margot isn't entirely sure what that fluttering is in the pit of her stomach whenever she thinks of Sojourner means, but she wants to go see her again. That girl is pretty cool and can do cool things and that's cool.

So is parkour. If she can add that to her list of skills, she would be one badass little fighter.

Off to the Nike cabin she goes, straightening out her sweater, making sure she looks nice (and why? She's never really cared before.)

When she gets there, she's just in time to see the walking handstands. She leans against the doorway, arms crossed and one eyebrow raised.] Is that part of parkour or something else entirely?

[Congrats, Margot, you get to witness Sojourner managing to walk on her hands for a total of five minutes before she falls over. There's a little groan, but she's quick to roll herself up and into a sitting position.

There might be an argument, somewhere, that Sojourner is secretly a circus child.]

Nah! I just wanna learn how to do that. Looks like fun!

Yeah, falling is always fun.

[Margot snorts a laugh, shoving her hands into her pockets.]

So... parkour. I'm down.

Falling isn't fun at all.

[She missed the joke in that. Instead she blinks up at Margot with utmost seriousness.]

But it's something that we've gotta do in order to learn. It's getting back up that's the important part.

[She let's that hang in the air before she laughs, the seriousness fading.]

Least that's what Papa always tells me!

*Maya considered the offering a moment, then quickly stowed her instruments and headed off for the Nike cabin. Her little idea from talking to her sister, plus thinking it over, left the idea pretty well rooted in her head. And this offering made it a bit easier... if she was good at it.*

Hey, would this happen to include climbing? Your parkour thing?

...I hope that cleaning isn't some Mr. Miyagi wax-on wax-off training...

[Sojourner cracks a grin as she hears the muttered Mr. Miyagi comment. Maya if she ends up jokingly telling you to wax-on wax-off, it's your fault for planting it into her head.]

Yeah, I've managed to scale up one story before onto a fire escape using the walls and things around me. How high you thinkin' of climbing?

I'm looking to pick a spot out of combat, hide there, and shoot anything that isn't on our side? So... as high as I can manage?

*As far as plans go, it wasn't a completely insane one. Find a spot, be a pest out of sight, with plenty of sightlines to get away if anyone did find her. But if she was limited to stairs it'd all be a lot more work.*

[She holds her chin, obviously thinking about scenarios. The grin doesn't fade once though and after a minute she nods.]

As long as you have a way to climb, either with groves in the building or another wall besides it or even a drain pipe you could probably get up.

Buuuut that's a bit more advance? I mean we'd have to start with the basics. Especially with how to catch yourself when you fall.

Well, we do have to do the wall of death thing, is it too much different from that? Apart from the no lava thing.

*She gets there's basics to learn, but the fact is they've been working on all sorts of crazy skills here.*

Well, yeah we do. But, riddle me this!

Look at the side of your cabin, do you see any nooks and crannies to use to scale it like on the rock wall? And then what would you do if you lost your footing and fell?

Teach me.

[Seriously, that was it. She lived in the city all her life, and had already had to use her heightened athletic prowess to get away from cops, gangs, you name it. But to have a bit of harder training on the subject? Would be far better.

Plus, next time, she could kick Margot's ass- she still was bruised from that.]

Well that's straight and to the point.

[She laughs, hands on her hips.]

What times are good for you?

[Cities are the best place to parkour, if you were to ask Sojourner. More obstacles to utilize.]

[And Eponine will be more than happy to take to the city. She missed it.]

There's no point in beating around the bush with me.

I jog every morning if you wanna join me then. I could show you a couple basic things to start out.

[Clearly a trip to NYC for them will be in order for the future.]

[And she holds up both hands to signify that he pause before saying anything.]

There's someone else in this camp that can parkour and I'm just now finding out?

[He does pause, one corner of his mouth quirked.]

My mom had this all hells of weird brother that taught me all kinds of shit. Wouldn't wanna boast about it, but...

[Dave gives a grand shrug.]

Didn't know how the camp authorities would take to people using the whole camp as an obstacle course.

Dude. I did a back flip off Mr. D and use this place as a jungle gym every morning. I think they stopped caring as long as nothing's broken.

[Cosette's poking her head into Nike cabin like some sort of overeager prairie dog, eager to ask for training. After talking with Maya, she's gotten a little worried about her fighting skills outside of archery, so any lessons sound great.]

Sojourner, you in? I was wondering if I could pester you for a few minutes...

I'm here!

[The voice is muffled, mostly because Sojourner is ~~stuck~~ under her bed searching for her sneakers. Her side of the cabin looks a bit like a tornado hit it, but that's how things generally turned out before Sojourner finished cleaning. She promises.]

[She creeps inside, sidestepping a few stray items on her treck over to Sojourner's bed. Coughing a little from the disturbed dust as she peeks under the bed at her.]

I was wondering if the parkour offer was still open. Do you need some help getting out from under there?

Yeeeeees.

[It comes out as a bit of a whine, her legs wiggling pathetically.]

[Rolling up her sleeves, she grips her ankles and tries to get a firm stance to pull with.]

Ready? One...two...three!

[It's kind of pathetic how much she slips against the wood while trying to brace herself and pull.]
