[ You'll find yourself looking at a grave centaur first thing this morning, just before the Romans start their training. ] Campers, I've an important announcement to make. Now, you know very well that we have protective borders around Camp Half-Blood. After last summer's incident, we've taken great care to ensure that we have several lines of defense with both force and Mist.

Followers of Lycaon - wolves - have been spotted just outside of camp. It is believed that they continue to align themselves with Gaea.

There have been no attacks, but I trust that all of you will keep your eyes and ears open for any signs of trouble. No campers will be leaving. [ Have a pointed look for some of you. ] However, we must keep our wits about us. Prepare accordingly. The Athena cabin has necessary information on the followers should you choose to educate yourselves on the matter. I hope you will.

After breakfast. We'll see where they are. How close they've gotten.

Good. 'Cause I am starving and cannot work on an empty stomach.

I'm kinda nervous, I dunno why. Gut feeling, I guess, [ Or maybe hunger. She laughs when her stomach gives a small growl. ] I'll meet up with you soon!

[annieisntokay]

You can grab breakfast. I'll meet you outside of my cabin.

It's always good to be nervous. That's what, ah, my mom would say. When you weren't nervous, before something important, that was... never good.

[She gives what she hopes is a confident smile.] I'll see you soon. Go eat.

[excusing]

Got it. [ Heather will make sure to sneak away spare food just in case. She's not sure if Annie's eaten or not. ] I think your mom'd be right in this case.

[ She smiles brightly with a wave over her shoulder as she takes off towards the dining pavilion. ]

She always tried to be. [She waves back, biting down on her lower lip as she smiles.]

[excusing]

[ By the time Heather meets Annie at the Poseidon Cabin, she's got a sword in the hilt slung around her hips and beloved shield on hand, hair pulled into her get to business ponytail. ]

Annie ... [ She sings, bouncing on her heels. ]

[Annie's long hair, meanwhile, has been braided into two fishtail braids, meant to keep it out of her face. It's her go-to style for combat and training. Pony tails tend to be, well, kinda heavy and she's been known to get them snagged on things before.

Mermaid hair is hard, okay?]

Hey, Heather! [She plucks her hair pin from her hair, and it elongates into a trident certainly worthy of the daughter of Neptune. Her own shield is already slung on a leather belt around her slim hips.] I think we can do this.

[excusing]

[ They're not very close, not yet, but Heather likes to check up on Annie and she especially likes seeing her bright and cheerful. She would have worn the earrings Annie got her for the holidays but she didn't want to lose anything precious in the woods again. Well, save for the dagger ring from her grandpa. ]

Me too. [ She scrubs the her wrist band along the shiny gold of her shield. ]

Cm'on. we'll start by the Big House and walk along the edge into the woods.

[annieisntokay]

[Yeah, dangling earrings and combat, not always the best combination, unfortunately.]

You got it. [Being back on the battle field is something of an escape for Annie, in a way. While non-violent, she could let go some on the field. Let her instincts take over, though she tried to avoid the point where she would go away, and black-out. That never, ever ended well.

It was terrifying, but it was one of the reasons she'd been able to cinch her position.

She starts walking, and once they're a ways out, she turns to Heather.] Attack them if they get close, but try to avoid confrontation. There are a few of them, and only two of us.

[excusing]

[ She nods a few times. ] Yup, yup, got it. [ As eager as she is, Heather actually can still take instructions from her superiors. Battle has never been her thing. She likes the fun of practice and being the little girl her grandpa always wanted her to be. Maiming other beings took some getting used to, though she knows it's for the good of everyone involved. ]

I don't want this to be bloodier than it needs to be.

[ It's an oddly grave statement from her. ]

[annieisntokay]

[The graveness does not go unnoticed, and Annie turns to her.] No. No blood. I wish we could avoid it.

[Blood was a trigger for Annie, understandably. She'd panic and regress, and find herself proving the rumors of her being absolutely batshit insane 100% correct. It was one of the things Gabe enjoyed using against her.]

[excusing]

[ With her free hand, she gives Annie's arm a little squeeze of comfort. ]

I hope we can. We're gonna work together. [ Heather doesn't like to think about the gravity of the situation but she has to be serious from time to time. ]

[annieisntokay]

I know. [She doesn't squeeze Heather's hand back. No offense, Heather. It's just Annie being... Well, Annie.]

We have this. I just don't do well with blood. At all.

[excusing]

Maybe it's better not to be, like, desensitized to that, huh. Maybe.

[ She rubs her chin. ] We'll avoid it, I promise. [ She'll figure out how to come to the defense first. ]

Maybe. Maybe not for me. Or, maybe for me. I don't really know- sorry.

[She shrugs, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ears.] You can't promise that, y'know. Kinda comes with the territory. [She gestures to her trident]

[excusing]

No, I don't know -- know, like, exactly what you've been through but I'll try to prevent it. Or help you through it.

[ Heather offers a small smile and continues, quiet now so they can listen for intruders. ]

[Annie wants to respond, but knows anything she says will ruin the moment. So it's best to keep quiet and simply savor it.]
