[Well, hello there, Camp Halfblood, have a bored looking young man, crossing his arms, and staring out at you with an expression of boredom and arrogance at the same time. Surveying his kingdom, as it were. At least, until he huffs a little, and something of that drops into merely a sulk.]
It occurs to me, Gods favor and patronize whom they will, of course, but back in the real world, that I’ve left behind, there are places where we leave the children no one wanted so the rest of the population can get along with, and go about their daily lives without getting their wrists stepped on each morning, or god forbid, being forced into pretending that we’re all some sort of…happy family
[There would be airquotes around that, if Thomas wasn’t more polished, and as it is, they certainly can be FELT from the way he drawls it out like that. The disdain is more than palpable, even if it IS a tad bit overblown and ventures toward melodramatic.]
As I’ve so lately been informed, this may not be the real world anymore, but wouldn’t it be nice, just think of it, if there were somewhere we could stash the lot of you who Mummy or Daddy hadn't felt the need to bother with just yet until such time as you might become interesting?
And Gods forbid not getting walked all over, but can anybody get a decent cigarette round here at least?

..Quite, actually. It's what I'm here for.

[If Thomas was trying to piss Greg off, he didn't have to try very hard.]
Why don't you come here and say it to my face, I'm sure I can arrange something for you. Preferably your face!
IM
[Hey, Thomas is usually out to piss people off at this point. It...makes him feel powerful or something? Maybe? Feelings are confusing, especially when you have no idea what you're doing. The obvious way to cope with a new reality is to be a complete asshole!]
Tempting, but I think I'll pass.

[This whole conversation is certainly angering him, and on one hand he knows that this is exactly what Thomas wants; it's what all the bullies back in elementary and high school wanted when they taunted him about his reading disability. But on the other, he can't just sit back and do nothing. That would be closing an eye.]
Bet that makes you feel like the top man. But I can tell you now that one day, this sort of shit you're doing is going to backfire on you and land you in a world of hurt. You're not going to win any friends with your attitude, but you're definitely going to make enemies, and that's going to come back to haunt you one way or another.
IM
[No, really. It just IS how things go. Thomas might not be making friends here, that's true, but it's not like friends are gong to get him anywhere either. He probably isn't screwing himself over as badly as all that when it's not like he'd have any use for anybody he wasn't somehow able to control.
Damned if that's not messed up, but, no time to get into the whole self analysis bit here. It's not like he's SAD about it or anything. He's best off by himself no matter what, ? There's a part of what he's hearing here though that...oh it's not giving him pause. He's heard this kind of thing most of his life and found it to be true but...if stuff were different or he was different...Nah. No time to be wasted thinking of that.]
Quite right it tends to. Least with enemies you've got some idea where you stand.
IM
And at least with friends you know you've got someone to rely on when you're in trouble. But you don't care about all that now, do you? If being a decent human being is hard enough, I reckon you're not too bothered about friendships. Or rather, your lack of them.
IM
Not really my area, friendships. Mutually beneficial alliances, sure. But those are different.
[Those are SAFE.]
