 [for someone attempting an iris message for the first time, here's someone who seems pretty at ease with the whole "talking at a rainbow" thing. he's all smiles and politeness -- and yeah, that is indeed a guy. though it might not be very clear until he starts talking (and not even then, if you aren't very perceptive).]

Nice weather, here. If it's really like this all the time, then I might not mind this place after all.

[talking about the weather seems like such a cliche, but he does it with such an easy charm that one might mistake him for a child of aphrodite.]

My name is Saralegui Sargon. I suppose I'm a new arrival here, most likely a permanent one, but I've done my research so I promise no one will have to explain every little thing to me. Still, I hope you'll forgive me if I do trip up anywhere. I'll be taking care of Cabin Fifteen for the time being, so that's where I'll likely be if anyone needs anything. Just try not to fall asleep.

I think I lean more towards the opposite end of the spectrum, if anything. But no, I simply enjoy my privacy.

[he hasn't had such good luck with the whole "friends and allies" bit. maybe he'd be a bit more open to trusting others if people in general stopped being such disappointments. you can only get burned so many times before you stop trying entirely, after all.]

[Or at least, she'll try to. Part of being a good leader is trying to understand where others are coming from - learning to think like those who disagree with you.]

I certainly hope you'll come out of it to spend time with us, then. We would be quite friendly to you.

Of course I will. Appreciating some alone time once in a while doesn't mean I don't also like being social.

[another part of being a good leader is playing nice with people you don't necessarily want anything to do with. and he's gotten very good at that.]

It's just a shame that I came so late in the season, when many people are leaving.

They will return. Despite there being many less campers in the winter months, the time moves quite quickly.

It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Daenerys. Craftsmen and fire, correct?

That's right.

[She nods to him - though it's strange he mentions the fire, too. Most everyone says 'god of the forge' and leaves it at that, not even mentioning the curse his children can bear.]

I have never met him, but I have been told he is a most honorable god.

It's normal to have never met one's godly parent, then?

Absolutely.

[She nods again, looking up into the air and thinking.]

I don't believe either of my brothers have met our lord father.

You respect him a great deal, I take it.

Immeasurably. I know it may seem strange to hold someone you've never met in such high regard, but I do.

[It's part of how she was raised - part of what Viserys taught her to do.]

[he arches an eyebrow slightly, but eventually just shrugs and smiles.]

I suppose it's only appropriate, what with them being gods and all that.

Some demigods do not revere their parents. In fact, some are bitter, some scorn them.

[well, now that sounds much more familiar.]

Do they? That sounds so sad, though...

It can be.

[She just doesn't understand the mentality. Why would someone - even if they've never met their parents - hold the gods in disregard, even after they've been gifted with such amazing talents?]

In years past, those who were bitter turned against the gods - and against the camp - in hopes of overthrowing Olympus.

[because sometimes parents -- godly or otherwise -- are neglectful assholes who couldn't care less about their own kids.]

And how did that turn out?

Many of them were killed in a battle, some by other demigods, some by the gods they scorned, and some still by Titans who they may have been working for.

At least they can serve as a lesson for others, then.

With all hope, they will. Lady Hera says we must all work together now...all means 'all', regardless of how one feels about their parentage. There is talk that there are worse things to face than Kronos.

Regardless of how one feels about the gods, I can't imagine why anyone should let that resentment bleed over into their relationships with other demigods. We are all more or less the same here, right? There shouldn't be any obstacles to working together.

I agree wholeheartedly with you on this, ser. But there are some who would not see it the same way.

Some who are too blinded by their anger to tell the difference between friend and foe?

[wokethedragon]

Partially that, yes. But some are also stuck so firmly in our differences that they cannot see what makes us all similar.

[She hasn't interacted with many Romans - the ones she's known, even their praetor, have been cordial to her - but she has heard that there are some that hate Greeks more than anything.]

Such as? I'm assuming you mean the whole "godly parents" thing.

[he doesn't even know about the situation with the romans yet, sob. beyond the general knowledge of roman myth and it's relation to the greek stuff, anyway. newbie ahoyyyy.]

Well, yes.

[She looks around, making sure no one is around to hear her or intercept the IM.]

This summer, we have become hosts here at camp to Roman demigods, Egyptian magicians, and Norse...well, the Norse gods reborn, if I understand the situation correctly. Although we have all done our best to work together as the lady Hera has advised...there are some who are set in their ways or who hold beliefs which do not mesh with Greek ideals.

Not surprising, given how widely varied some cultures are in their beliefs and priorities. Should I just assume at this point that all myth from any country is most likely real in some way, then?
