 [for someone attempting an iris message for the first time, here's someone who seems pretty at ease with the whole "talking at a rainbow" thing. he's all smiles and politeness -- and yeah, that is indeed a guy. though it might not be very clear until he starts talking (and not even then, if you aren't very perceptive).]

Nice weather, here. If it's really like this all the time, then I might not mind this place after all.

[talking about the weather seems like such a cliche, but he does it with such an easy charm that one might mistake him for a child of aphrodite.]

My name is Saralegui Sargon. I suppose I'm a new arrival here, most likely a permanent one, but I've done my research so I promise no one will have to explain every little thing to me. Still, I hope you'll forgive me if I do trip up anywhere. I'll be taking care of Cabin Fifteen for the time being, so that's where I'll likely be if anyone needs anything. Just try not to fall asleep.

[he says it teasingly, but no that is kind of a serious threat. you've officially been warned and he no longer has to take any responsibility for anyone passing out and smashing their head on something.]

Mm, I suppose it doesn't seem like much compared to what I'm sure others here are capable of. Most of the other gods seem rather more battle-ready, from what I've seen.

Nothing wrong with working from the sidelines. I mean, like, if you can actually make people fall asleep in the middle of a fight? Cool.

[She shrugs, pausing for a second.]

I'm Margot, by the way. I'm the counselor over at Cabin Five.

Your optimism is refreshing, at least. It's a pleasure to meet you, Margot. So which god does Cabin Five belong to?

Always good to have a strategy is the way I look at it.

[Three years at camp, training training training. So as much as she can anyway.]

I mean, you know, kind of our thing, fighting, war, blah blah blah.

At least there seems to be a great deal of that in this world. You'll always be in high demand, while I doubt anyone will be coming to me for help unless they're having trouble sleeping.

Uh-huh... I still wouldn't sell yourself so short, at least not yet. Like I said, you never know.

And look -- since you're all new and stuff, if you ever need help around camp, lemme know, yeah?

A very generous offer, if coming a bit late in the season. Unless you're a permanent resident here as well?

Permanent, three years and counting. [Sheepish grin.] Not complaining or anything, but yeah. Haven't left.

[he smiles, and his tone is lighthearted, but that's a serious note to self. he's never one to ignore a potential resource.]

[It seems strange at first to Daenerys that Chiron would accept a brand new camper so late in the summer session, but it dawns quickly on her that, like herself, he'll be staying year-round, if his words are anything to go on.]

It's quite nice to see someone in Cabin Fifteen at last - that is Hypnos's, am I correct?

[yeeeaaah, home is not a place he feels like dealing with right now. but currently being without mortal parents is a good excuse too.]

That's right. I really am alone in there, then? I wasn't sure if I was just missing whatever others there were, or if they'd already left for the year or something.

To the best of my knowledge, you are the only camper in the Hypnos cabin currently.

[She smooths out her skirts, looking him dead in the eyes, even if it's just through the rainbow.]

I would not feel distressed about this, though. New campers arrive here often. You may find a brother or sister yet.

[aren't you a confident one. at the very least, he respects that.]

It's fine, I'm not particularly bothered by it. I've always been an only child, so it'd honestly be stranger to suddenly gain siblings now.

[She gives him a little nod.]

I would assure you that even if you were not an only child, the experience of meeting your new siblings is quite refreshing.

[Leo has been, after all, a far better brother to her than Viserys could ever be.]

I think I still prefer this. I'd rather not share my living space if I don't have to.

[to be fair, anyone would be a better brother than viserys.]

Are you quite messy?

[She laughs a little bit - that would be a reason she could see fit to not want to meet other like-minded godchildren. She's heard being a roommate with people who do not share your ideals is hard.

Dany has been alone many times in her life, but she does not relish those times. She keeps her friends and allies close.]

I think I lean more towards the opposite end of the spectrum, if anything. But no, I simply enjoy my privacy.

[he hasn't had such good luck with the whole "friends and allies" bit. maybe he'd be a bit more open to trusting others if people in general stopped being such disappointments. you can only get burned so many times before you stop trying entirely, after all.]

[Or at least, she'll try to. Part of being a good leader is trying to understand where others are coming from - learning to think like those who disagree with you.]

I certainly hope you'll come out of it to spend time with us, then. We would be quite friendly to you.

Of course I will. Appreciating some alone time once in a while doesn't mean I don't also like being social.

[another part of being a good leader is playing nice with people you don't necessarily want anything to do with. and he's gotten very good at that.]

It's just a shame that I came so late in the season, when many people are leaving.

They will return. Despite there being many less campers in the winter months, the time moves quite quickly.

[She puts a hand to her forehead - where were her manners?]

Pardon me, I haven't introduced myself. My name is Daenerys Targaryen, of the Hephaestus cabin.

I hope you are right.

[ugh, time to enjoy the peace while it lasts. but at least you're polite.]

It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Daenerys. Craftsmen and fire, correct?

That's right.

[She nods to him - though it's strange he mentions the fire, too. Most everyone says 'god of the forge' and leaves it at that, not even mentioning the curse his children can bear.]

I have never met him, but I have been told he is a most honorable god.
