[IM/Action] 01st Clash

[Rainbows. These people can't be serious, but Edmund is proven that yes, yes they are. It only makes it worse that the rainbow communication is, in fact, real and works.

When he does use the rainbow, he doesn't look terribly thrilled to be here. Still. Doesn't hurt to be civil. It's not strictly the camp's fault that he's having issues with his family at the moment.]

My name is Edmund Pevensie. I was told that I'm a son of Athena. Which cabin am I supposed to be staying in?

[He shifts a little restlessly after that somewhat cold introduction. Edmund doesn't really care, but he's curious. Pursuit of knowledge and all that. That's a thing with Athena's children, right?]

Also...what does it actually mean to be a child of Athena? My...mother...couldn't tell me much about it, and I haven't been able to brush up on any Greek mythology while on the plane here.

[Edmund spent most of it trying to get his head wrapped around the whole demigod business, as well as the fact that his mother isn't actually his birth mother. The rest was spent with troubled sleep.]

And what should I expect from this camp? I was told there was trouble and that it was a safe place for demigods, but not much else.

[There...might...be some slight suspicion. Maybe. If you squint super hard. Look, mom didn't tell him a whole lot since she didn't know much, either. Edmund's done with surprises. Like. Super done with them.]

Noooope.

{He pops the 'p' with his lips.}

I'm not any god's kid. My parents are both-were both--

{He's not sure what tense to use when he's only got one left.}

-human. Very human. So I'm trying to figure out exactly why I'm heard. I've ruled out the Greek, Roman, and Egyptian groups and I can't see through the mist, so I must be Norse, but I have to find my god or goddess.

I can't decide if they based it solely on my ability, which is to hear stories, gain knowledge, very much Athena's bag, of tricks, or what. So, I'm starting with references to stories and storytelling in Norse mythology.

{He grins at Edmund.}

I'm Stiles by the way.

Nice to meet you, too. Our counselor is on a quest, but I'll so you what I figured out about the cabin already, if you want. Or you can explore yourself.

{He looks out at the sea of materials around him.}

Ah, well it was kind of difficult to use 'Norse stories' as a search term because I got all the myths instead of myths about storytelling, so now I'm just learning everything I can get my hands on.

{He pauses, but then plows on.}

Honestly, I'm trying to be as prepared as I can. The other Norse kids from what I've heard--they're actual reincarnations of the old gods, and it's--disconcerting. The old gods aren't exactly the most merciful types.

Sure, thing. I'll be here. You just might have to throw something at me to get my attention.

{Lol, don't feel bad Edmund. It's actually a pile of stuff ranging from Pre-Norse history to Norse culture in popular media today. Stiles is sometimes too thorough in his researching.}

I've met Skadi and Thor's reincarnations, and they seem alright. Frigga, was...nice, but her bearing was definitely queenly, and she said she had the goddesses memories? So I'm preparing in case certain situations make them all more influenced by their old selves.

{Stiles is good like that.}

No big, I'm sure whatever you choose to toss, I've had worse. Unless of course, you actually pick up one of the many weapons around here.

{That's alright, Stiles knows his vices.}

I'm not sure. I didn't know any of them before they were gods or goddesses, so I don't have the basis of comparison. I only have myself, but I also don't think I'm a fully reincarnation like the others. None of the gods left makes sense with my ability, so I'm checking goddesses now to see if I'm just kind of like overflow.

{Stiles's eyebrows hike into his forehead.}

Messy? As in you spill blood or...?

{He's a curious guy. Even if he probably should know better.}

The pieces of their souls being split is apparently the Norse pantheon's thing as a whole, but each piece carries one of their gods' specific abilities? For instance, I can tap into conversations when people are telling stories and listen from a distance. Therefore, I'm looking into Saga as my goddess, maybe? But she's lesser known in comparison to Frigga, and a few of the others.

{Stiles grins back.}

Oh, man, I know that feeling. I spent my whole high school career on the bench of sports teams because I couldn't play without hurting myself or someone else.

{Yeees, come research with him, Edmund.}

It's crazy! Or well, I thought I was going crazy, at first.

{Which is a much bigger deal than his joking tone suggests because his mom literally died from brain deterioration that resulted in hallucinations sometimes.}

It's any kind of story at all! Suddenly, before I left home I could listen in on my dad's conversations about his cases without even trying to eavesdrop, and then at school I could hear all the gossip even when I didn't want to know who was going down on who behind the bleachers.

It's easier here. Not a whole town or so many kids talking to each other in one place. Mostly it's just distracting, like lots of people talking behind my back.
