Shot 01 -- IM/Action

[wintersergeant]

[Bucky shoots the rainbow a charming grin. The effect is ruined a bit by the healing black eye and the cut on his cheek but hey, it works. (Someone had a run in with the shabti guards. Not fun. He doesn’t recommend it.)]

So I’m guessin’ the giant stone things are a new thing? No one ever mentioned ‘em before, just guards and a dragon.

[Also he’s pretty sure they look kinda like those Pharaoh guys he saw in the museum once but he’s not sure]

Just sayin’, that’s something you’d want to mention to a fella before he gets here. Bucky Barnes, at your service.

[He gives a sort of cocky, lazy salute, still grinning. The grin continues as he asks his next question, but he’s clearly a bit worried]

Anyone here seen a scrawny sixteen-year-old, by the way? Shorter’n me, weighs about a hundred pounds soaking wet, probably doin’ something stupid or drawing? He looks like he’s going to kick it if you look at him wrong. His name is Steve—if anyone knows where I can find him or knows where he is, tell him Bucky got outta that damn hotel and is looking for him.

Bucky? [This is, in fact, the droid big brother you are looking for, looking a mixture of anxious and exhausted and overall relieved, poised to dash over to wherever Bucky is ASAP.]

I just got here too, where are ya? Are you okay?

Steve?!

[Bucky just gapes for a moment before looking around]

Uh, by the gold cabin. Wouljda believe that's mine?

The gold one? Well, you're movin' up in the world. [There's a little grin, and he gets up.]

I'll be there as soon as I can.

[wintersergeant]

Eh, it's tacky.

[He smiles]

Hurry up Rogers, I don't got all day.

action!

[thestarspangledman]

[And so -- as soon as he can, without falling over and dying of asthma or something -- Steve arrives. And Bucky is immediately getting what is probably the tightest hug Steve can muster.]

[wintersergeant]

[And Bucky's hugging him right back]

How'd you get outta there? When did you get out?

[thestarspangledman]

A satyr came 'n found me. I wanted to stay, 'cause we couldn't find you, but he kinda dragged me here.

[wintersergeant]

I got out year or two ago--that's why you couldn't find me.

[Not surprised that he got dragged by a satyr, really]

Wish I'd'a known someone got you out. I know they know I was out.

Well, it was only about a month ago. So you didn't miss out too much.

[wintersergeant]

I missed you, punk.

[Hair ruffle]

You okay?

[thestarspangledman]

I missed you too, jerk. [Have a nudge, since he doesn't want to go on tiptoe for a hair ruffle.]

I'm fine. In one piece, I promise.

[wintersergeant]

Sorry if I don't believe you about that, buddy, especially since the last time you said that you had a twisted ankle.

As much of one piece as I ever am, how's that?

Good enough.

[And another hug]

Hey, you hear about what they've got for asthma now? It ain't an emotional thing anymore, they've got real medicine for it.

[thestarspangledman]

No! Can we get our hands on some?

[wintersergeant]

[Bucky grins and pulls an inhaler outta his pocket]

Soon as you said you were headin' over, I grabbed one from the medicine cabinet in the cabin.

[thestarspangledman]

You're the best, pal.

[wintersergeant]

Gotta look out for my best friend, don't I? I knew kid when I got out who had to use this, think I still remember how it's done.

[thestarspangledman]

Great, so you can show me.

[wintersergeant]

Now or when you need it?

[thestarspangledman]

...Now, when I need it it might be too hectic to teach.

[wintersergeant]

Good point. Right, so.

[Bucky proceeds to demonstrate (a little hestitantly) how to use the inhaler to Steve]

S'pposed to clear up whatever's makin' you cough.

[thestarspangledman]

[And he looks slightly dumbfounded, at the very idea, but he's certain to note exactly how Bucky uses that. It could end up saving his life sooner or later, who knows.]

That's amazing.

[wintersergeant]

They've got medicine for pretty much everythin' nowadays, Steve, and if they can't use medicine they've got a machine or somethin'--little tiny ones to help you hear, everything.

[That's a bit of an impressed whistle.] Phillips didn't tell me about all that stuff.
