[The news about the wolves stalking the camp borders had hit Annie harder than she had wanted, or even imagined would happen. They weren't safe, they never would be. That much had been drilled into her head what seemed like forever ago. As much as she wished they were. And it was all the more reason to promote unity between the pantheons.
But right now, Annie wanted to be away from people. This was actually nothing new, but said people may be a little taken aback when they notice the girl standing out up to her knees in the Long Island sound. Good thing she didn't get wet, or there'd be one Anniesicle when she decided to head back to shore.]

[But her being out in the ocean like that isn't really a cause for concern for him - in fact, when he spots her, he wades right in there with her. Can't feel the cold of the water, after all. But he's slow and careful in approaching her, and there's no way she can't hear him coming, especially since he's not trying to hide.]

Hey, Percy. Nice day for a swim, right? [She forces an uneasy smile.]

[So... it's time for a distraction. Hopefully it'll work.]
Yeah, actually, it is - think you wanna head out a little with me? There's someone I want you to meet.

Oh- sure. I miss the ocean. It was always this cold, but I liked swimming in it anyway. Let's go meet them. I'd like that.
[And wolves probably couldn't swim this far out, anyway. And they'd be stupid to attack them while they were literally in their element.
Water was calming, anyway. And she liked spending time with Percy. Sure, it was strange, the way he'd be so sweet, calm, and comforting to her all the time. Sometimes, it seemed to border on condescension. But she knew his heart was in the right place. And that made it... Well, it made it a lot more easy for her.]
Is it your friend Tyson?

Nah, Tyson's down at the forges - he'd call before he came up, but hopefully he can come visit soon. But these guys are friends of me and Tyson, and they'll like you, too.
[Because they adore any child of the sea god. And Annie would probably be enchanted with them. He pauses long enough to strip off his thick hoodie and throw it back onto the beach so he has less fabric annoying him down there, then starts heading out for deeper waters. No wolves would dare to enter the ocean, much less attack in it, so they're ironically safer there than they are on land.]
Come on, they won't be far away.
[And with that, down he goes in a near-perfect butterfly stroke, though he doesn't resurface again and heads away from the beach.]

[She offers another small smile, before wading out deeper with Percy. Annie is, unsurprisingly, wearing a dress over a pair of leggings, but doesn't bother to remove either. Her shoes, however, are already back at the beach. Pausing for a moment as Percy headed out deeper, she considers before ripping off her cardigan and tossing it back to the beach, leaving her arms mostly bare. She'd regret it later, but swimming underwater with even more fabric than she already has on is not something she really wants to do.
Satisfied, she moves back into the depths after Percy, her body rising above the surface just slightly before she submerges herself, heading after her half-brother.]

[Various sea life call out to them as they pass, because not one but two children of the sea god are there and that's a big deal since they've only ever seen Percy before. He returns their greetings but doesn't stop, and as he cuts through the water he's sending his thoughts out ahead of them, trying to get the attention of the creatures he knows are somewhere nearby- there. About fifty meters farther out. He turns back to beckon Annie forward, slowing to a stop in the water because they know the two of them are there now and are swimming as fast as they can to meet them.]
[And so not even a minute later Annie will see three odd yet beautiful creatures speeding at them through the water, bodies like horses but silvery tails like fish, all three of them chattering happily though it's mostly repetitions of "Lord! Lady!" and nothing all that bright. But they're happy and enthusiastic and beautiful, so hopefully Annie will like them.]

Sorry, she's still a competitive swimmer at heart.
As they swim, she smiles at the creatures around them, waving. And then, as they come to a stop, their buoyancy naturally adjusted, Annie sees them. She gasps, a hand coming to cover her mouth. Hippocampuses. She'd never seen them up in Washington. She glances at Percy before moving a bit closer to them, reaching a hand out gently to pet the creatures.
She can't stop smiling as they enthusiastically surround her.]

So, these are my friends - our friends, I guess, they'll stick with anyone with the blood of Poseidon in them. Or I guess Neptune. And they're always up for playing games and stuff.
[Yay for being able to communicate underwater.]

Thank you, Percy. How did you meet them?
