First Loaf [IM/Action]

Sorry it took so long to get back here, guys - some, uh, things came up that I couldn't control.

[One would never know that Peeta spent the better part of the summer in the hospital or got attacked over Thanksgiving by the slightly sheepish grin he gives the rainbow - he'd had a few chats with Jehan and Finnick while he was away so he's been kept generally up to date on what's happened, but he isn't about to go spilling his own story so soon after arrival. It's not that important in the grand scheme of things.]

Looks like things are getting kind of crazy around here, with all the different pantheons showing up now, but, it's Christmastime, so we should be able to relax and focus on good things for awhile. Things were getting kind of hectic at the bakery, but I did bring a huge tub of gingerbread, chocolate mint cookies, and hamentashen if anyone wants to drop by Cabin 4 for some later. [He gives an eyeroll here.] Don't worry Finnick, I brought your croissants, too; you don't have to go hounding me about that. Even though you're probably going to.

So yeah, it's good to be back, and welcome to all of the new guys I haven't met yet - and, uh, when you get a chance, let me know if you've got any food allergies. I need to update my list since we've got so many new people.

[So he doesn't accidentally kill anyone. With a smile and a brief wave, Peeta breaks the connection. If anyone wants to find him, he'll be unpacking in Cabin 4, with stacks of baked goods to hand out to anyone who drops by.]

[He'll give a small laugh at the question.] Nah, I do this a lot - my family's owned a bakery for years, so it's just the kind of thing we do. And I just like it, I get to do something where I can see the results and it helps me clear my head when a lot of stuff's going on.

Ah, most of my family is good at cooking and baking. I'm very good at making charcoal.

Oh, so you're like my oldest brother - somehow he ended up having no business being anywhere near a stove or an oven. He still manages to eat more than almost all of us put together though. [Oh Laurence. What are they going to do with you. Peeta's fond of his brothers, but it's true his only contribution to cooking is dish-washing.]

Ahh, got it. There's not a lot of you here yet, right? Which one did you get?

Something like that. Even my brother is allowed near the grill. And everyone is happy when Daphne cooks. I take after my mother, I can do all sorts of artistic things. Far, far away from food.

I do like eating food, I can do that part.

*Bay hesitates cause this was going so well, but... it isn't like it's a secret.*

Artist, huh? Maybe I'll see you at the arts and crafts cabin then - I paint, too, and sometimes I help teach some of the classes there.

Underworld? I'm not really familiar with the Norse stories - I probably should've read up before I came back, but things were... uhh, stretched. Does that mean you're staying in the Hades cabin?

I only go in there to get supplies, I usually paint or sketch elsewhere. I'm kinda used to doing things on my own.

*It's super weird how like one of Bay's moms you are, you know that?*

Hel is one of the children of Loki. Odin sent her to oversee the Underworld far from Asgard and the other Gods. Which means I am absolutely staying in the Hades Cabin.

There's some good places to sit and sketch in the woods, at least in summer. I'm not sure about winter; this is the first time I've been here at this time of year.

Isn't it... dark in there? It looks really dark from the outside, at least.

If I'm sketching something specific I go wherever my subject is, if I'm sketching from my imagination I just pick the roof of the cabin. The dark stone absorbs heat really well. Bit more comfortable that way.

Well, if it was brightly lit it wouldn't as creepy. We'd lose a lot of street cred, and we'd need to dust a bit more often.

I see your point. Well, whenever summer rolls around, I can point out some nice places to sit and sketch where you're not gonna be too disturbed. Probably. This is the world's strangest summer camp, after all.
