[There’s a new face in the rainbow on the morning of December 8th- one that could probably actually really use a shower. Six months on the road has kind of made Rhys forget what being clean feels like. Or looks like. Anyway, cleaning up hasn’t occurred to him yet.]

I suppose when it comes down to it, talking over the rainbow isn’t that much stranger than travelling on the rainbow. You can get used to anything.

[He half-smiles, looking around like he’s still getting used to his surroundings, then re-focuses on the rainbow in front of him.]

Anyway, I’m Rhys Owens, your latest happy camper. I’ve just got one request- if you see a couple of ravens flapping around and trying to get up in your business, please don’t damage them. They’ll be kind of difficult to replace. I’ve told them to be polite, so if you shoo them off they’ll probably listen, but no promises. They make up their own minds, mostly.

Probably not? I mean, I don't know anything about runes but are they even words?

Well, yeah. I don't think they're that different from hieroglyphics, but I might be jumping at the easy connection. They symbolize words, anyway.

I always thought they were just symbols, not actual words. Huh.

I think they can be used as letters, too. They're pretty multi-purpose- I need to study more, honestly. I learned them by... hm, let's go with instinct here. I could use more academic knowledge

Yeah, I really need to track down Miss Chase.

[He shrugs.]

It's nice to have a project for the winter, anyway. Don't want to finish it up too quickly, right?

Suit yourself. I hate schoolwork over the holidays!

I've kind of missed it. I could have been living it up at college for the last three months, writing essays galore. I've got to make up for it somehow.

[She groans]

Not another little professor! I'm already related to one, why do I have to live with another?

[Just for that, Rhys puts on his stuffiest voice.]

At my stage of education, I can only hope to someday reach the heights that those we call professors have attained. I would not dare take that honoured title for myself.

Just so we're clear, I can turn your pillow into Gouda.

That's amazing. I hear cheese is fantastic for the hair.

[She makes a face]

You and Tybalt should meet, I swear. Both of you are no fun to annoy!

Sorry, I grew up with a twin brother. If I let him annoy me every time he tried, we'd both be dead by now.

[He laughs. It's amazing how easy it is to talk about David like it doesn't even hurt.]
