[After tossing his first drachma that he's earned since he's been back at camp into the rainbow and saying Iris' sacred prayer, Jean Prouvaire approaches the rainbow with a gentle smile. Despite it being nearly summer, he's wearing a turtleneck shirt under his camp t-shirt, and the single bead on his necklace rests against his chest - he's been wearing it proudly to school each day.]

Good morning, Camp Half Blood. I trust that it's been a good year for all of you. I must say that it's been a trying school year for me. I've taken Chinese so I may read the works of Confucius, and the language system is particularly difficult...

[He's a little embarrassed at the fact that he's admitted he had trouble with the new language, and his cheeks tinge red as he looks down at the grass under his feet. Still speaking in his soft, shy voice, he offers a few words of parting.]

I-I hope to see some of you at dinner and learn how your year was.

[To anyone who doesn't know Enjolras very well his expression is it's default - a frown. To those who do know him though, it's very clear he's fighting back the smile that's already reached his eyes.]

Good to see you Jehan, you'll have to tell me about your endeavors with Chinese tonight.

[The appearance of his older brother always garners a wide smile which shies away into a smaller one, redness flushing his cheeks more.]

I hope to do so. I may even teach you a few words...i-if you'll permit it!

Where are you spending your day today?

I’m taking refuge in the strawberry field reading.

[He raises a book – one of Dany’s fantasy books he had borrowed because he had finished all of his. It’s been taking him longer then he’d like to get through it.]

And I would love to learn a few words, and to hear about your school year.

Is that one from your mademoiselle?

[He's heard all about her, naturally, and he can't help but laugh a bit.]

I will meet you there!

If you mean Dany, yes it is.

[he pauses, catching Jehan's words.]

And she's not "my mademoiselle".

[Oh, wow, okay, Jehan can't even look Enjolras in the face right now, he's too embarrassed.]

I-I beg your pardon. You've just been talking in your sleep of a mademoiselle, is all. I should not have assumed. Please disregard that!

I do not talk in my sleep!

[He's a bit flustered by this, the tips of his ears going red. Oh God. Did he talk in his sleep?

After a rather awkward moment following the outburst he clears his throat.]

I... Nevermind. It's alright Jehan.

[He shifts from one foot to the other, looking down at the ground, then back up to Enjolras.]

Forgive me, brother. It was quite rude of me, I hope you can accept my apology.

Jehan, I said it was alright. There's no need for you to apologize.

[Enjolras only shifts a tad uncomfortably at Jehan's use of 'brother'. That's something he's still getting use too - even after three years.]

Jehan!

My, my, my, aren't you warm today? It's nearly seventy degrees out!

Good morning, Musichetta!

[He offers her a small wave, then quickly moves backwards. He doesn't want to break the rainbow.]

No, I'm not overheating, I promise you. I'm protecting myself for the chilly breezes we'll be facing tonight.

Oh, that sounds smart. Being so close to the sea does make for colder nights.

How's the Chinese translation thing going for you? [ She sits on the front steps of her cabin, chin over her folded hands. ]

You should find yourself a scarf, to be perfectly honest. I wouldn't want you to catch something!

It isn't as easy as I'd hoped - hold on there.

[He's by the Apollo cabin, and he sees her sitting down. Hebe wasn't too far away, so he walks right through the rainbow, breaking the call, and sits down on one of the porch swings next to her.]

I'm afraid Chinese characters are even harder to read than the Latin alphabet.

[ Oh, there he is, just across the way. She hadn't seen him when she first emerged. 'Chetta leans against the step and and smiles at him fondly. ]

It'll take some time, but I have faith that you'll be able to do it. You're very smart and perceptive, after all. [ She nudges him with her foot. ]

[He gives her a tiny smile and kicks out with his feet, beginning to swing on the seat.]

I should hope so. My readings may come in useful someday!

[He thinks. There's Romans, too, not just them now. And he's heard rumors of Egyptians...you never know.

How has your year been?

[Julien is beaming quite brightly as he replies.] Welcome back, Jean. It's good to see you again.

[He waves back to Combeferre as well, awkwardly putting his hands in his too-small pockets.]

I trust you're doing well?

I am! It was a wonderful year, but it's nice to be back.

You'll be at the campfire tonight, won't you?

Oh, yes! I wouldn't miss it for the world.

[He tilts his head to the side.]

Why? Is anything special happening?

Nothing I know of, I was just hoping to see you then. [Since they'll be at different tables during dinner.]
