action ☁ dec 6

[ If there's anything Natalie's learned from her mother - Diana, not Hecate - it's that life is full of highs and lows. She simply does not expect the sudden drop today.

She missed something in her last Iris Message to her dad, something he bypassed in their brief talk because she was so busy filling him in on the actual good things in her life recently. Rather, it doesn't hit her until a week later. Something's happening with mom, with both her parents, and it's not very good. Nothing supernatural, even, because she would transport herself there in a heartbeat and fight off whatever was after them. Their problems are most often human, things she doesn't talk about, not even with people she considers her friends.

It's like she's in free fall, leaving her stomach behind for a moment as the rest of her tightens, curling up into a ball of anxiety because, damn it, she had been feeling so good until today. She's just leaving the archery range, sallow-faced and rubbing her aching, slightly bruised arms because she's been there for gods know how long. Though, her battered targets show that she's actually been doing something productive with her time and arrows.

[ His brow furrowed as he considered that. They could defiitely do that if Natalie wanted to, but nothing coming to mind in response to her suggestion. ]

Like what?
commandertoolbelt: (reasoning)

[ He pulls back, nodding. If Nat wants a distraction, then it's a distraction she'll get. She'd done the same for him. ]

We can give Gabe and Tonks a run for their money, huh.
commandertoolbelt: (smile)

We'll literally be rolling be rolling in dough. [ He laughs softly, giving her a small smile. ] So, what were thinking? Maybe like a mask or something, to be super cheesy? Oh, or a top hat! We could put sequins on it and everything.
commandertoolbelt: (are we awesome or what?!)

[personal profile] commandertoolbelt 2013-12-10 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Holy Hephaestus, I've created a monster.

[ That said, it is an awesome idea and he can't help but grin. ]

I like it.
commandertoolbelt: (lounging)

[personal profile] commandertoolbelt 2013-12-10 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I know! I never should have introduced you to the world of mischief. You're a danger to us all. [ His eyes sparkle. ] But I like it.
commandertoolbelt: (let's be reasonable here)

[personal profile] commandertoolbelt 2013-12-10 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, don't feel bad; we all expect something to go wrong on those days. Better it's a joke than the real deal.

[ He's about to make a comment on how he must be crazy to like a dangerous girl, that if it were anyone else, he'd probably run away screaming. But he bites it back, instead smiling and saying, ] What's scary is that you could probably do your thing and not get caught like everyone else. I do something, everyone knows. That shirt thing with the Romans? Kind of obvious even before John stepped up. But you... [ He points a finger at her playfully. ] You can be completely anonymous if you wanted to.

But I'd hope you'd take me with you.
commandertoolbelt: (smile with me)

[personal profile] commandertoolbelt 2013-12-12 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
[ He grins. ] Wow, the top? I should feel honored or something.

So. Trick weapons. How do figure it would work?
commandertoolbelt: (i made a funny)

[personal profile] commandertoolbelt 2013-12-12 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)
You'd only get bruised if you were caught. [ Leo tells her with a wicked grin. Remember those trick mines he set up back when he first got here? He stole them straight from the Ares kids, rewired them, and turned them into firework mines. Best idea ever, and they hadn't even been suspicious. ]

There's always Cabin Six. They're nowhere near as trigger-happy.
commandertoolbelt: (hanging out)

[personal profile] commandertoolbelt 2013-12-13 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He shrugs. ] But you're not the only one capable of it, and maybe not the one they'd suspect first.

But I also kind of prefer it when you don't have a sword at your throat, so. Having it randomized'll work.
commandertoolbelt: (aww come on)

[personal profile] commandertoolbelt 2013-12-13 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[ That's a good look for her, he thinks, and it's not just because it's a positive change from before. He can still see that something in her eyes, but he'll gladly provide the distraction she wants. ]

Right, so there's this sword I was making the other day. Something to do, you know? We can work it out on that one.
commandertoolbelt: (shut up I'm working)

[personal profile] commandertoolbelt 2013-12-17 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[ The first thing he does when they reach the forge is dig into a storage box and pull the sword out. It's pretty much complete, albeit very plain and boring, by Leo's standards. ]

So, I'm not really sure how this Mist thing works. [ And it is a huge point of annoyance for him, but at least Natalie's on his side. He'll try to find a way to program invisibility it himself later. ]
commandertoolbelt: (you okay)

[personal profile] commandertoolbelt 2013-12-17 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Leo eyes the walls suspiciously. ] Okay, that is only a little creepy. [ It's a lot creepy, really; there are so many ways someone could abuse something like that, and even with Natalie's explanation, he still doesn't really get it. That only serves to make him more annoyed with it, because regular logic just doesn't apply to the Mist. Machines are infinitely easier than this. ]

Right. I'll let you handle that. [ Now. How to make it work inside of something solid? he wonders, studying the weapon as the gears in his head started to turn. ] I think it should be based on proximity, so it doesn't disappear until they get closer. Having it touch-activated would ruin the illusion; they'd still know where it is. [ He looks back up at her. ] It'd be easy to put a detector in the hilt.
commandertoolbelt: (not buying it)

[personal profile] commandertoolbelt 2013-12-17 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He raises an eyebrow. He hadn't known that, as a matter of fact. Even nicer. Sorry, Nat, but your heritage is even weirder than his. ] What, are you going to start hunting demigods now?

[ Shaking his head, he gets back to the matter at hand. Demigod detector or not, he still has a little more trust in actual mechanics that he can see and put his hands on than something as nebulous as the Mist. ] You think it'd be easier to do it your way?
