II ϟ [IM or ACTION] ϟ Little Animals

[Jason is sitting on the roof of a building. There are cots behind him and that makes it obvious that it is the Zeus Cabin. Yeah, if you missed that memo they sleep on the roof because their dad is awkward. He looks uncomfortable now though.]

I was going to ask who put the baby flying squirrels in my cot...but I'm starting to think this wasn't a camper based on the other IMs going around. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to touch them or not though...but they are cute if anyone wants to come see a flying squirrel up close.

I just hope they weren't taken from their mother or fell out of a tree or something.

[Jason looks down and shifts the angle of the rainbow so that now you can see a small pile of baby flying squirrels curled up on his pillow.]

You think so? I haven't tried it yet.

[As he's talking he doesn't notice the pile of cute balls of fur stirring. One or two awake and both hop up onto Jason's shoulders like he's a tree.]

Ah. Nevermind.

[That earns a snort of laughter.]

Guess it could be worse. It could be baby skunks or something.

Well, skunks aren't so bad 'til you scare the, y'know. Seems more like we attract ones we might actually like, but dunno really.

Yeah, but I don't think it would be that difficult to accidentally scare them. I prefer the squirrels.

You've got squirrels? I've got dogs.

[Ven's eying the pack of golden retriever puppies that's been following him around for the last day or so, a bit doubtfully.]

I don't know what we're going to do with them all.

[Jason smirks, either amused by Ven and his pups or his next statement.]

They could always sleep in the inside of the cabin.

[That statement gets Jason a definite double-take and a confused look.]

Wait a minute, we're keeping them?

[notthatjason]

Well I wasn't planning on it, but if they're going to follow you anyway...

[He shrugs. He hadn't really pictured himself keeping a nest of flying squirrels.]

it's not like puppies can get up on a roof.

No, I just... [And that gets a habitual action Jason should recognize, Ven raising a hand and scratching the back of his head a little.] I'm wondering when they're gonna not be here. This has to be because of a god, right? So when are they going to change their minds?

[notthatjason]

Good question. [Jason glances skywards as if that will provide answers. he shakes his head] Who really knows at this rate. This is going to be one of those nice things they do that will probably go away before we're ready.

[Which probably means everyone is going to get attached to a few of the animals, just to have them disappear.]

[He's going to grin just a little at that Jason. Really, your brother knows you a bit too well.]

Nice things, huh? So you're already getting attached to them?

[And here he thought he was supposed to be the soft heart among the Jupiter boys.]

Well...I dunno...they're cute.

[Jason can be soft hearted. It's not like he gets to see tiny baby squirrels very often.]

[And that grin's gonna expand a little.] You're saying "cute." I wouldn't let Heather hear that if I were you.

I think I can trust you to keep this between us, Ven.

What are you going to do with them if they decide not to move? [Sorry, Jason. She finds your plight amusing.]

I guess sleep in another cot. The Jupiter cabin isn't as full as some of the others so there is actually plenty of space.

At least you're taking it in stride. Some people actually find the animals to be bothersome.

It's a small thing, there are worse events that have happened or could happen around here.

We're halfbloods. Of course there are. [But she seems to toy with the idea.]

...you're sure they're normal squirrels, right?

[notthatjason]

[He hesitates and looks at the little squirrels again.]

Well....they haven't tried to eat my face off yet so that's reassuring...
