What exactly are the weapons here made from? I got a hold of one of the magicians in Giza and they said they've no idea either. It doesn't look like anything I've ever seen before, though to be fair that's not saying an awful lot. I never liked military history.

But yes. What are they made from?

[And he shrugs at the question.] That's the way we do things here. You should see me and my girlfriend practicing.

[It's pretty amazing, actually - he and Annabeth just know each other's moves so well by now they're a perfect team. Or perfect opponents on the battlefield. And they go at ridiculous speeds. But for the moment, Percy's lost in thought.]

Hmm... I don't remember actually landing a hit on your brother when I met him, and that's the first time that's happened in forever. He's pretty good with his own bent sword. But he got smashed around by that crocodile thing pretty good, so it'd be safe to say you guys can get hurt by godly forces, which probably includes Celestial bronze and the gold the Romans use. I could give you a prick on the back of your hand or something if you wanna test it, though.

[It's really not a bad idea, all things considered - better to find out now than in a real battle situation.]

Anyone can be smashed around by godly forces. But we're in all honesty one hundred percent mortal. There's not a bit of godly blood in us whatsoever.

[She nods]

So that's Scott for the gold and you for the bronze. Now to find someone willing to help heal me if something goes drastically wrong which, given the usual state of things in this camp, is likely.

Uhhhh, not exactly - with the Greeks at least, and it sounds like the Romans, monsters and enemies can't affect regular mortals. Good thing, too, or our Oracle wouldn't like me a lot. [Yes, Percy, stop trying to shish kebab your friends. It's not nice.] But mortal weapons also can't be used against monsters at all, except to... uhh, shove them or whatever. Someone once told me that mortals and mortal stuff just aren't important enough to matter. So if you shoot a monster with regular bullets it'll push them back from the impact, but it won't actually hurt them.

Come on down to the archery ranges, there's plenty of Apollo kids around there all the time in case something goes wrong.

Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii tried to kill her when I first met her? Look, I was being chased by a bunch of walking skeletons and she snuck up on me and I attacked on instinct. My sword went right through her.

But it ended up good! You coming?
