What exactly are the weapons here made from? I got a hold of one of the magicians in Giza and they said they've no idea either. It doesn't look like anything I've ever seen before, though to be fair that's not saying an awful lot. I never liked military history.

But yes. What are they made from?

[He scratches the back of his neck, a little embarrassed. He'd sliced himself a few times too many when he'd first begun to learn how to use a sword.]

That's the big downside.

If I asked you to cut me with that, would you? I mean, if you don't I'll just pay one of the Hermes campers to steal it but I'd rather not.

[He actually steps back from the rainbow at this point - holy Juno above, was Sadie serious?]

Just a little one. I need to know if it'll work against magicians.

I can't just cut you, are you kidding? If I can't take ambrosia like the rest of them, I don't know how we'll fix you u-

[Still, it sounds like it's really important that Sadie finds out, and she's one of very few magicians here...

He stops himself short, getting an idea.]

We could train together, probably. And we need an Apollo kid.

You'd win if we did physical fighting. I'm pretty much strictly magic. Carter's the combat mage, not me. If you and one of the Greek kids just cut me, then we wouldn't have to worry too much. Like stealing a bit of your brother's dinner before you order the dish.

[Scott sighs, biting his bottom lip - he really doesn't want to be doing this, but Sadie puts up a good point.]

We still need to find an Apollo kid. I'm not doing this without a way to patch you up.

Fair enough. Are there any at this camp that aren't kind of crazy?

I don't...know. But they've all gotta be better to get along with than Octavian is, trust me.

[He shudders, then looks around to make sure either Praetor isn't watching. Octavian is the Augur, after all, and even if plenty of them don't like him, they still have to respect him.]

Wanna go find out?

If this Octavian is crazier than the three Apollo kids I've heard about or seen, I never want to meet him.

[Seriously. She's pretty sure Enjolras is a rock and Maya is moodier than the girls back in London. And she's heard about that younger one, okay.]

[Scott says this in a whisper, because it's kind of embarassing.]

[Luckily, Scott's never met any of the Greek Apollo kids, so he doesn't really have any basis to judge.]

That's what we have Apollo's kids for. And Juventas' kids, I think they can make ambrosia and stuff, but if I can't eat that stuff without burning up I'm pretty sure you won't be able to, either.

...right, so if anyone who looks Roman named Octavian shows up, go the other way. Got it.

[She nods]

Ambrosia's that bread, right? Why can't you eat it?

No, don't just go. Run. Especially if you've got a stuffed friend you care about.

[He shrugs.]

Well, it's...I'm not a demigod, y'know? I'm a legacy - more mortal than anything. I've never actually tried, because I'd rather be safe than sorry.

It's like - my mom's a mortal, my dad's a son of Victoria, so I'm second-generation. I don't think Greeks have them, but we were pretty common in New Rome.

Huh. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised--Narmor and Ramses the Second died long ago yet here I am, descended from both with my boyfriend being one of King Tut's descendants--but I didn't think demigod-ness was genetic.

We had a city, back home - New Rome, right? And lots of demigods, when they finished camp, went and settle down with somebody and go to college and stuff there. It was safe for them. And so...legacies happened.

[Yeah, he's not getting into the process. He hopes you get the point Sadie.]

Yes, I kind of got that bit. I meant I didn't think divine blood was genetic.

[He shrugs.]

What cabin are you staying in again, Sadie?

Hecate.

That's not too far.

[He waves away the rainbow, and it's not too long before Scott shows up at the Hecate cabin, knocking on the door, but careful not to knock too hard - he's heard stories about the stones that make it.]

[Dammit. She has to run from the armory to the cabin. He beats her there and doesn't seem to spot her. She walks up and taps him on the shoulder]

[In retrospect, Scott definitely should have asked her to meet up with him.]

Sorry. Sometimes my feet work before my brain knows what they're doing. So, uh...to the Apollo cabin?
