[Iris Message]
[Jill's sitting by the lake. There's a flat rock in one of her hands, like she's skipping stones or something. There's a slight frown on her face as she stares into the rainbow.]
So, in case anyone hasn't got the message yet, Sojourner got called away back home. Probably off doing something completely ridiculous like always. [There's a fond note in her voice, though. She loves her sister, really.
She's quiet for a moment before she tosses the rock at the lake. One skip, two, three, four. It sinks on seven. Good shot.] Scott, that means you're going to have to take on her chores. [More responsibility for the nephew.]
That said, anyone wanna do some sort of race? I'm good for swimming, running, or climbing. [Because she needs to work off some of these blues, okay.]

I can race you, though. I'm Heather. Scott's a good friend of mine, actually. [ Two of the most out if place Legionnaires of all the Romans, actually. ] Is swimming good for you?
no subject
Jill. So you're another Roman? [Invaaaaasion.] Scott's apparently my nephew. It's kind of weird. [And then a grin.] Swimming sounds good.
no subject
Cool to meet you, though! I'll get my swimsuit on and meet you at the lake.
no subject
Okay. I'll be here. [She was smart enough to put her suit on earlier, so she's ready to go.]
no subject
She skips toward the lake, nodding in greeting. ]
Hey!
no subject
She nods back, a small smile on her face.] Hey. Quick timing.
no subject
I totally cannot resist a race. And since it's summer, I think it's a good day for swimming. [ Though she's pretty sure she likes the lava wall most of all. ]
no subject
Yeah, that's why I included it. Might as well stay cool while doing some exercise. [The wall is pretty much her favorite too, but she's good with whatever.]
no subject
[That being the rock skipping.]
no subject
no subject
Could you um, could you teach me how to do that?
no subject
no subject
Awesome! I'll be right over!
[Naomi doesn't even wait for confirmation before she's running over to the lake.]
no subject
Yet, at least.]
no subject
Hi Jill!

[She takes the rock, turning it over in her hand curiously.]
We don't really have any lakes where I live. There's the duck pond in the park but all the old ladies get mad when kids try throwing rocks.
no subject
[The stone goes sailing, hitting the water three times before sinking.]
no subject
[She watches the way Jill holds the rock, trying her best to imitate it. With an utmost concentrated expression she faces the water, making sure the rock is parallel and then flicks her wrist.
Well, no... It's more of a throw. Needless to say the rock doesn't go very far.]

[Scott's not sure how this camp works, after all, but if his away time at Camp Jupiter that he'd had to beg his pre-Derek centurion for to see his mom was any indication, it wouldn't be for long.]
Well, I can take one for the team. No big deal.
no subject
no subject
[Scott's answer is both informative and intelligent.]
I think so. I was at Camp Jupiter, anyway. I usually stayed with my mom.
[He's quiet for a second - Scott's easygoing nature disappears for a moment.]
I don't know where she is, though.
no subject
Have you tried IMing her?
no subject
No, he hasn't.]
You think she'll be able to get it? Romans don't really use IMs, and she knows about all my...god-stuff, she lived in New Rome too, but...
no subject
Why not? You get IMs, even thought you're Roman. Besides, I send my dad messages all the time. [Mostly to annoy him.]
no subject
[Honestly, they've thought of everything here. Maybe Chiron - that was the centaur guy's name, right? Maybe he could even set up a place for his mom at camp, or in the surrounding area, where it'd be safe.
After some thought, he asks his next question.]
Can you...hey, Jill, can you come with me when I send it? I want her to meet you.
no subject
[To say that she's surprised is... an understatement. She's completely taken surprised by that request. It takes her a moment to process it all before she can even reply.]
If you... want me to. I don't mind.
no subject
[He gives her a little smile, tilting his head to the side. It's a bit of a dopey joke, but Scott still takes some kind of pleasure in it.]
Meet you at Nike Cabin in five!
[Then he waves away the IM and starts running toward the cabin. He likes competition, and this is like a little race for him.]
no subject
[She's a little ways from the cabins, but that doesn't stop Jill from hoofing it, enjoying the pleasant ache in her legs as she runs for the cabin.]
no subject
He hits the side of the Nike cabin, panting, and takes a few puffs of his inhaler, not sure if Jill's made it yet.]
no subject
no subject
He grins at her, nodding, and pulls out a drachma.]
Thanks. Okay, walk me through this again? I've only sent IMs to camp, not to anybody...outside.
