SITUATION POST: JUNE 17, 2013

[Well, everyone who'd left to go get the standards back from Camp Jupiter - that's Chloe, Anna, Julien, Derek, Enjolras, Gabriel, and Reyna - will be arriving back at Camp Half-Blood this afternoon, just after lunch, with the blessings of both Hermes and Iris to give them a safe journey home at their backs. They'll be carting along five Imperial golden statues of animals with them that will be installed near the cabins, along with the statues of the Greek gods that were already there. Word on the street is that some more Roman campers followed their path, and there'll be a second wave coming in.

The part that may shock you, campers, is that they'll all be riding in on a large elephant wearing a kevlar vest. His name is Hannibal, and starting today, he'll be living in the arena along with Mrs. O'Leary.

Come and mingle at the campfire tonight, everyone. Chances are they've missed you.]

[ Slides on over, because someone is looking rather cold and lonely. Maybe she needs a splash of Leo to brighten her day.

And maybe he's imagining that. Whatever, she's a new face. Time to say hi. ]

Truth or dare not your speed, huh?

[Chloe looks up, startled at someone coming up to her. He's new, she figures. Not that she was here long before going off on her quest, but she's pretty good at remembering faces.]

I, um... [She gives a sheepish grin.] I've actually never really played before? [She wasn't some social reject before the whole 'I see dead people' thing, but she wasn't exactly Miss Popularity either.]

[ Really, now. He grins. ]

First time for everything! Truth or Dare?

[Her eyes widen. Okay, she can do this. She led a quest and talked to a dead son of Mercury, and she can totally play Truth or Dare.]

Truth! [Way to go, Chloe.]

[ He bobs his head in a nod, thinking of what to ask. ]

Favorite thing to do when you're bored?

Oh, that one's easy. I like to think of plots. For movies. [A smile.] I do that when I'm not bored, too.

[ Smiles. He makes a mental note of that for the next truth. ]

Hey, that's cool! Bet you get a lot of inspiration around here, huh?

[ Leo sure would, if that were his thing. Everything's so amazing! It would be hard not to be inspired. ]

Aaaaand it's your turn. I choose... [ He draws it out like isn't obvious. ] dare.

Oh yeah, definitely. [Since she copes a lot by turning her own life into a movie, oops. Her life is crazy enough to be a best-selling series.

She makes a face. What do people usually do for dares?] Okay! I dare you to, um... To ask one of the nymphs for a kiss. [She's seen stupid teen movies. That's legit, right?]

[ Anyone else, and Leo would be ribbing them for coming up with something so... standard. But she's new here, so he'll let it slide this time. And he can't deny that, being a teenaged boy and all, the idea of kissing one of those very lovely nymphs has appeal. ]

Okay. Any one of them, or do you have someone in mind?

[She's trying at least, points for that. At the question, Chloe glances around and notices a dryad nearby, watching the campers. She taps her chin thoughtfully before nodding toward her.]

That one, right there. Just try to not get smacked, okay?

[ He follows Chloe's gaze and nods, deciding that the dryad would be worth it. ]

Alright, be right back.

[ He walks up to the nymph, flashing a smile and asks very bluntly for a kiss. When she looks offended, he's quick to explain that it's because they're playing truth or dare, and her anger fades to frown. With a sigh, she agrees to a kiss - but only on the cheek. As soon as he plants a quick peck in the allowed spot, she immediately vacates the area, and Leo walks back over to Chloe with a spring in his step. ]

How's that for not getting smacked?

[ Leo why are you so proud about this. ]

[Chloe claps, clearly impressed. The nymphs have always seemed flirtatious but not all that approachable, and he didn't even get smacked! That's an achievement for sure.]

Good job. I bet she's telling all of her tree friends about this, though. Prepare for the gossip.

[She sounds completely genuine, from the compliment to the clapping.] I think that makes it your turn again, right? I'll go with dare this time. [And now she sounds more confident than she really is.]

[ He holds out his hands in mock surrender. ]

What can I say? It's hard, being this sexy.

[ Okay, dare then. Leo figures he should go easy on the girl, since she's new to this. But what to do, what to do... ]

I dare you to... act out a scene from your favorite movie, all by yourself.

[Chloe looks him over, as if trying to figure out if he really is all that good looking. He's cute, but nothing like Derek. Wait, no. She doesn't mean to think that.] Clearly not that hard.

[Cry, she's not really an actor. Should have just gone with truth!!! Damn, Saunders.] Okay.

[So Chloe stands up, takes a breath, and acts out the scene from The Empire Strikes Back when Vader tells Luke that he's his father.]

[ He acts hurt, trying to suppress a grin. ]

Ouch, that stings.

[ ...Leo should say something after that amazing performance. He really should. But he's too busy laughing and clapping. But it's good-natured laughter; he's not making fun of her or anything. There's only one thing he can manage to say: ]

Bravo!

[Her face is pretty much entirely red at this point, because getting in front of people and doing anything is probably one of the worst things she can do, but it goes pretty smoothly, and Leo seems genuine in the praise.]

Th-thank you. I really prefer being behind the scenes th-than in front. [Tucking a curl behind her ear now.]

Hey, you weren't half bad! That's a tough scene for anyone.

[ And doing it alone is no small feat! That was awesome.

And to cover all the bases... ]

I'll take a truth, if you've got one.

I don't know, I think Mark Hamill got it pretty good.

[:|a Hmmm.]

If you could have one thing in the world, what would it be?

[ Mom, he thinks immediately, but he brushes the thought aside as quickly as it came. To hell with truth or dare; Leo just met the girl, and he is not going to tell her about his oh-so-tragic past.

Still. What would he want? He's quiet for a while, thinking about it. Giving up, he shrugs. ]

I dunno. A magic tool belt that can give me any tool I need?

A magic tool belt? [Chloe smiles at that, unaware of what he's really thinking about. The quiet doesn't really bother her either. It's the kind of question that requires thought.] I guess that would be pretty handy to have around.

[ Suddenly there's a little screwdriver being turned over in Leo's hands. ]

A good mechanic never goes anywhere without his tools.

[ This is confidential information, Chloe. Hope you appreciate being brought in on the secret. ]

[This is the one piece of information she'll keep near and dear to her heart always.]

Good rule of thumb to keep. Particularly for Hephaestus kids? [She assumes.]

Definitely! You never know when you'll need something fixed, or built. As the Boy Scouts say: always be prepared.
