[This is Hermione. This is Hermione looking a tad nervous to be asking the question she's about to ask, but she's been weighing on it for some time now. Especially after what happened with the Red Room…and now knowing that everyone's staying at Camp…it wasn't something she wanted to ignore any longer.

Anyone looking at the IM will see that she's sitting out by her usual lake, occasionally casting spells to change colors of stones nearby. It's a mindless incantation that she likes to do when she's focused on something else.]

I'm sure there will be some people that might be offended by this question, but I'm curious. Who do you tend to value more, your friends or your family? [She's being careful not to look at the camera as she changes another stone from blue to pink to green. She'd had a fight with Ron about it, of course, and she still wasn't entirely sure how she felt.] Demigod siblings don't count, by the way. I mean our actual families that we live with outside of camp. I realize that they're two entirely different spectrums, but…let's pretend we had a choice this year. Which of you would return, and which of you would stay to protect them?

[And then suddenly she's giving a light smile as she moves on to her next, and last, point..] Anyway, I think I'll be in the Arena later today if anyone needs me. [And she cuts the connection.]

[He paused and swallowed.] And you really can't see why I'd not want to go home?

Depends. [She's still walking. If Ron wants to keep talking, he better catch up.] Let me ask you this, Ron. Do you know why I stay here year-round?

[Ugh, why are you always so mad. He follows but really.] You think you're protecting them.

[Because how do I emotion.] That's about half of the answer, yes.

[But she doesn't need him. He shrugs.]

And you. You're the bridge connecting both worlds, Ron, and without that...then there's no sense in me ever thinking about our old life ever again, and there's no reason for me to return to my family.

[He scowls.] That's dumb. They're your family. Besides, you could've gone back with me but you never even contact 'em when I tell you to. So doesn't make much sense.

It's too different now for them. My mother's still a little too shellshocked by the whole thing, and Dad wants to pretend it never happened.

They're your family. [He repeats it, frowning, turning away. Except his real father had given him up. And all the other places he'd been to before the Weasleys ended up afraid of him one way or another. He swallowed roughly.] They're a family that loves you and I know it. I've seen 'em. You can't just give up on that.

I know that they love me, but it's too...difficult, Ron. It's not like with you and the Weasleys. Don't you understand that? It's just grown more awkward every year.

Yeah, sure. 'Cause it didn't take four families to find them since everyone else was too nervous. 'Cause my real dad wasn't a bloody drunkard who didn't even want me around. [He swallowed.] You don't even realize how lucky you are. You don't know what it's like. And just cause you're willing to leave since it's difficult don't you dare start thinking I'm in the wrong.

As soon as I've the chance I'm going home. They're the only people who've seen me for me. S'as simple as that.

I already told you I can't stop you. [She's also still walking and not facing him. Somehow it's a lot easier to have this conversation, even if she's not even going to bother arguing anymore. She's resorted to her other tactic of just running away and avoiding everything.] ...I just wish I could sometimes. Just do me a favor and tell me when you're leaving.

Why? [He frowned, he's not asking why about then when he's leaving bit and he hopes that's obvious.] All you do is yell at me, s'all we do. Me leaving will probably make you happier, so what's it matter?

If you really think that, then you're a bigger idiot than I thought. [She sounds a bit thoughtful rather than angry by that idea.]
