[This is Hermione. This is Hermione looking a tad nervous to be asking the question she's about to ask, but she's been weighing on it for some time now. Especially after what happened with the Red Room…and now knowing that everyone's staying at Camp…it wasn't something she wanted to ignore any longer.

Anyone looking at the IM will see that she's sitting out by her usual lake, occasionally casting spells to change colors of stones nearby. It's a mindless incantation that she likes to do when she's focused on something else.]

I'm sure there will be some people that might be offended by this question, but I'm curious. Who do you tend to value more, your friends or your family? [She's being careful not to look at the camera as she changes another stone from blue to pink to green. She'd had a fight with Ron about it, of course, and she still wasn't entirely sure how she felt.] Demigod siblings don't count, by the way. I mean our actual families that we live with outside of camp. I realize that they're two entirely different spectrums, but…let's pretend we had a choice this year. Which of you would return, and which of you would stay to protect them?

[And then suddenly she's giving a light smile as she moves on to her next, and last, point..] Anyway, I think I'll be in the Arena later today if anyone needs me. [And she cuts the connection.]

[...would she do the same? The obvious answer is yes, but if she started thinking on it too long she started really wondering about the answer.] Luckily it hasn't come to that yet. Good to know they have someone like you to rely on though.

[he speaks with such conviction about the whole thing that it'd be hard to see anything but loyalty in him.]

I really hope it doesn't come to that. But...I think at least here, my friends know how to protect themselves, too.

I think the last few weeks have proven that quite nicely, don't you? [She's actually sort of proud, to be honest. It wasn't easy, but it was done...not without damage, but it was done.]

Yeah, I'll say.

[He shrugs, scratching the back of his neck. He's not used to people coming after him to rescue him - he hopes he doesn't have to get used to it, either - but he's a legacy, not a demigod, and even at Camp Jupiter he was always treated a little differently. Maybe that's why he was friends back home with so much of Apollo's progeny - well, except Octavian, but no one really liked Octavian. If he fell - they were his only hope.]

What are you up to today, Hermione?

[And she's not privy to Scott's thoughts, though she had to wonder how he was adjusting to everything as a legacy. Everyone who wasn't a demigod fascinated her to no end, even if sometimes she ended up asking too many questions. Still, when he asks she just gestures to the open area of the arena.]

Extra practice. I feel sort of silly only being able to use a bow and arrow, but I'm more skilled at it than anything else. That and with the spells I know...it should be enough.

Hey, good idea. After all the stuff we just went through...I mean, I thought we went all out at Camp Jupiter, but it definitely can't hurt to be over prepared.

[Which he totally gets now. That's why they were up at the crack of dawn every morning, training, practicing formations, even after their home base was destroyed. Constant vigilance.]

Hey, uh...can you show me how? People who weren't Apollo kids, I mean, back home, we never really shot arrows, they always looked at it kind of funny. But here, I mean, all bets are off, right?

[She almost looks a bit flattered that he's asking, and she pauses to collect herself.] Me? I mean I'm not nearly as good as the Apollo kids, but I have been practicing for years and I've been perfecting new techniques that have actually been really useful and--[Hermione, shut up. You're babbling.]

Yes. I can. I'll be at the Arena all day today but I can make time pretty much any day, really.
