[This is Hermione. This is Hermione looking a tad nervous to be asking the question she's about to ask, but she's been weighing on it for some time now. Especially after what happened with the Red Room…and now knowing that everyone's staying at Camp…it wasn't something she wanted to ignore any longer.

Anyone looking at the IM will see that she's sitting out by her usual lake, occasionally casting spells to change colors of stones nearby. It's a mindless incantation that she likes to do when she's focused on something else.]

I'm sure there will be some people that might be offended by this question, but I'm curious. Who do you tend to value more, your friends or your family? [She's being careful not to look at the camera as she changes another stone from blue to pink to green. She'd had a fight with Ron about it, of course, and she still wasn't entirely sure how she felt.] Demigod siblings don't count, by the way. I mean our actual families that we live with outside of camp. I realize that they're two entirely different spectrums, but…let's pretend we had a choice this year. Which of you would return, and which of you would stay to protect them?

[And then suddenly she's giving a light smile as she moves on to her next, and last, point..] Anyway, I think I'll be in the Arena later today if anyone needs me. [And she cuts the connection.]

...I suppose I don't quite understand. I didn't have other siblings growing up. It was just me and my parents.

I didn't either. [She just had her mom and sometimes it didn't feel like she had that.] But I think that makes them more real.

You've really given this a bit of thought, haven't you?

You can love your friends just as much as you do family, too.

I'm still of the opinion that they're different kinds of love...obligatory love versus real love, sometimes.

No, if someone bullies you are you supposed to like them?

Well obviously not. [Watch it, Hazel...those are a little too close to home.]

[You say that like Hazel hasn't been bullied.] Why is it different if it's family, then?

I never said all families are bullies though.

I didn't say that. Everyone's different.

Hazel, what are you really saying here?

Who you love and how you love it's different for everyone. Family or friends, love can be equal. It's no less real.

...I wish it were that simple. Usually you're right, it is. But there are still some times one outweighs the other.

Why do you say that?

Sometimes you don't care as deeply for the people who are generally nice to you as you do for the ones who are rude and challenging.

...But that's why it's love isn't it? [Because she still loved her mother, after all. Very much so.]

Do you believe love's supposed to be that challenging?

There's a saying about how the more difficult things are to tend the more you love them.

Which I've noticed but it has to make you wonder why it is we do that. What is it about people that draw them to what frustrated and perplexes them?

I don't know. [She manages a small smile.] Maybe we like being difficult.

Maybe, yeah. [She smiles a little though.]
